You shall be obliged to give your best to the assigned duty and responsibility.
You will not deny treatment to any patient.
You shall attend to the patients in emergency, OPD and wards.
You must respect the right of patients as described in the patient s charter of the hospital.
You will carry out the initial assessment of the patient, take history and perform physical examination.
You will order the investigations based on the provisional diagnosis. Orders for investigation and medication for all patients are to be done through HIS only.
You will see the patients referred to you by the other department s especially emergency cases and if you are not able to make diagnosis then you will refer the case further to your senior.
You shall be responsible for providing continuous care to the patient from admission till the time patient is discharged from the hospital.
You will communicate to consultant of unit on admission, any change of status of the patient and routinely at times given by the consultant.
You shall take clinical round of all the inpatients admitted in your department at the beginning of your duty and take appropriate actions.
You will take rounds in the wards with your senior doctor during your duty hours.
You shall enter all the clinical notes of the patient in HIS.
You will perform/assist your seniors in all the medical and surgical procedures.
You will keep your colleagues well informed about the treatment plan and condition of the patient and give proper handover.
You will put the discharge notes of the patient in HIS on the day prior to discharge.
You will not go off duty till your reliever comes on duty.
You will coordinate with nurses in providing the care to patients and monitoring the compliance from time to time to ensure continuity of care and effectiveness of treatment.
You must work within the limits of your professional competence, willing to consult with colleagues when making a diagnosis or providing treatment.
In case of need, you will attend to patients of other departments admitted on the floor.
You will cooperate with investigation of any complaint which applies to your work.
You will ensure hospital facilities and departments are utilized.
You must keep your knowledge and skills up to date throughout your working life. In particular, you should take part regularly in educational activities, camps and other functional activities which develop your competence and performance and read the important medical journals in your field of interest.
You will ensure that your behaviour and conduct with your colleagues, staff, patients and attendants is polite and appropriate.
The dress code of the hospital is to be followed strictly.
You shall always wear apron and stethoscope, especially when going to see the patient.
You will cooperate with security in maintaining security and safety of hospital property.
When on night duty, you are required to extend your services to other specialties.
Any other professional and administrative duties delegated as and when required.
