Job Role : Mainframe Senior Developer

Job Description :
Responsibilities :
- Analyzing user requirements, envisioning system features and functionality.
- Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable mainframe codes by setting expectations and features priorities.
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and recommend system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development
- Contributing to team meetings, troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms
- Understand Architecture Requirements and ensure effective Design, Development, Validation and Support activities
- Perform research, analysis, design, planning, coding, and testing
- Investigate and resolve routine or common incidents and issues
- Plan and execute automation/streamlining activities to reduce manual efforts/cost
- Participates in project calls with stakeholders representing our applications and asses the impacts and action items for our applications
- Participate in the support, coordination, and execution of scheduled maintenance activities including validation during upgrades, DR tests, etc.
- Be available for project and maintenance activities outside normal working hours, if needed
- Proficient in multiple programming languages with depth of knowledge within specific tech stacks (application languages, algorithms, database normalization, data structures, common tools, etc.,)
- Comfort in modern computing techniques inclusive of TDD, CI/CD, Human-Centered design, code management including reuse, secure computing
- Strong bias towards automating any process that repeats
- Takes pride in end-to-end digital product ownership from coding to production deployments and support
- Demonstrates mindset of continuous refactoring for codebase
- Key contributor during incident responses and root cause management
- Strong business acumen to ensure effective iteration materializes in achieving intended outcomes
- General understanding of how digital product is delivering value towards applicable business area and only writing software that contributes to that value
- Ability to write technical stories, size appropriately and influence the prioritization in partnership with Digital Product Manager
- Ability to recognized and pivot when sizing assumptions are not validated in development in partnership with Digital Product Manager
- Demonstrates strong empathy towards Human-Centered design thinking
Technical and Professional Requirements :
Primary skills Required: Mainframes, COBOL, PL/1, CICS, JCL, DB2Tools: IBM Rational tools (IDz, RDz, RBD, RTC)
Additional Responsibilities :
- In-depth knowledge of design issues and best practices
- Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
- Familiar with various design, architectural patterns and software development process.
- Experience with both external and embedded databases
- Creating database schemas that represent and support business processes
- Implementing automated testing platforms and unit tests
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate with remote teams in effective manner
- High flexibility to travel
