Water Sector Expert

Job Summary: We are looking for experienced Water Sector Specialists to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the water sector, with a proven track record of working on national and international development projects.

Qualification:

• Minimum Bachelor and Masters degree in Civil Engineering / Water Engineering or Relevant Sector.
• At least 10 years of experience working in the water sector.
• Experience working with donor-funded programs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and dynamic environment.
• Minimum of ten years experience providing relevant expertise and leadership on development programs.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• English proficiency (written and spoken) and excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop strategies to improve water sector resilience, specifically to address water scarcity, droughts and floods, with an emphasis on food security.
• Lead initiatives that promote the increased adoption of best water management practices, including resilient agricultural practices, climate-smart agriculture and water conservation techniques.
• Collaborate with local communities to foster understanding and responsiveness to their needs, ensuring their active involvement in decision-making processes.
• Work with other donors and counterparts on regional water management issues.
• Monitor and assess climate change impacts on local water resources.
• Introduce innovative solutions for efficient water management, considering both conservation and the challenges posed by changing climate patterns.
• Collaborate with local and international stakeholders and project partners to ensure successful project implementation.
• Monitor and evaluate project progress and manage risk, ensuring alignment with goals and objectives.
• Create a positive working environment for all staff and ensure fair professional growth and training opportunities for team members.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and progress reports.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on project status, budget, and any issues encountered.

Software:

EPANET, WaterGEMS / WaterCAD, InfoWater Pro or equivalent etc.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel to different project sites as and when required.
