SQL Database Administrator (DBA)

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team on a short-term contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing DBA support during APAC/EU time zones, focusing on addressing replication failures and performing standard DBA tasks. While direct experience in SQL Server Peer-to-Peer replication is preferred, we are open to providing training to candidates with experience in other types of SQL Server replication.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and maintain the health of SQL Server databases and replication environments.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve replication failures, including Peer-to-Peer replication.
• Perform regular database maintenance tasks, such as backups, index maintenance, and security updates.
• Collaborate with the IT team and stakeholders to ensure database performance and availability.

MUST HAVE:

1. The primary responsibilities include addressing replication failures and handling standard DBA tasks when replication is functioning as expected.
2. Experience with SQL Server Peer-to-Peer replication

Qualifications and Skills:

• 5-7 years of DBA experience required; Degree(s) in Computer Science, MIS, or a comparable field of study is preferred.
• Strong knowledge in all aspects of Microsoft SQL Server Administration on Windows Server and Azure
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server replication technologies, including experience with troubleshooting replication issues.
• Installation, upgrade and maintenance
• Data Extraction, Transformation and Loading, use of tools such as SSIS, and general understanding of ETL and processing of structured and unstructured data
• Database backup and recovery
• Replication/mirroring and other HA techniques both OnPrem and Azure solutions
• Experience with Azure SQL PaaS, Azure SQL VM and other similar technologies
• Experience with SQL Server performance tuning and optimization.
• Strong understanding of database security best practices and disaster recovery strategies.
• Experience with SQL Server performance tuning and optimization.

• Performance monitoring and Database tuning
• Various troubleshooting, including use of 3rd party tools such as Redgate SQL Monitor
• Working knowledge of Data Warehousing/BI concepts
• Strong knowledge of SQL and SQL query optimization techniques
• Solid understanding of Data Structures, relational database design, data modeling and dashboards
• Experience with SQL Server performance tuning and optimization.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience working in APAC/EU time zones is a plus.
