Data Engineer

Experience, Education and Certification:

• Bachelors degree in computer science or related field or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a full-time Software Developer/Engineer

Additional Requirements:

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Professional experience using one of the major programming languages
• Demonstrable experience with Databases
• Familiarity with Git
• Experience working independently on a distributed team
• Ability to learn and think critically about software and data engineering concepts and apply them pragmatically based on project needs

Preferred:

• 5+ years of Hands-on experience developing software in either Python, Java,Scala or C++ preferred but not required
• Experience working with big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Spark etc.)
• Experience with various streaming data concepts, such as Kafka
• Familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus
• Hands-on experience implementing ETL (or ELT) best practices at scale.
• Knowledge of testing, profiling, and debugging practices
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and Ansible
• Demonstrably deep understanding of SQL and/or analytical data warehouses
• Experience with git source control
• Experience interacting with Stakeholders and communicating status update for tasks and projects
• Desire to continually keep up with advancements in relevant technologies
• Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies
• Constantly improve product quality, security, and performance
