Technology Lead Payment Initiation Platforms, Director

Role Description

Technology Management Lead is responsible for improving the technological aspects of operations to reduce infrastructure costs, improve functional performance and help deliver Divisional business goals. Work includes the following.

• Partnering with key internal stakeholders to translate bank strategy into objectives and plans for implementation while supporting the delivery of world class technology solutions
• Planning and managing platform operations including production support, systems and database administration, network operations, and client service
• Ensuring systems performance and service level requirements are met through appropriate capacity management practices
• Managing and maintaining strategic relationships with key IT product and services providers
• Transferring business requirements into technical solutions
• Providing in-depth technical expertise for both tactical and operational initiatives including oversight of Software Development Lifecycle including Release Management practices
• Proactively managing and remediating the risk

Team overview

Payment Channels Technology:We are responsible for delivering client facing solutions that act as channels allowing Payment Initiation for our corporate and institutional clients across the world. Corporate Bank Technology has embarked on a multi-year technology refresh program that includes revitalization of "Channel" applications for payment initiation. As a technology lead you will be working on driving the engineering including enhancements of global payment initiation platforms.

Some of the platforms have React based micro frontends backed by Java powered micro-services deployed in a containerized environment hosted in cloud.

Some of the other platforms are hosted on-prem and rely on Kafka and datastores such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, HBase, MongoDB amongst other open-source software. You'll collaborate with other Product Owners, Designers, Senior Engineers, Lead Engineers and Analysts on the platform using agile practices to incrementally add functionality to the platform and with a sharp focus on automation.

You will partner with business and technology managers to define modules and enhancements to the application stack that provides Deutsche Bank's institutional clients ability to initiate payments in real time and access to their account balances & statements in near real time.

Your key responsibilities

• Promote engineering culture and improve productivity amongst the team
• Mentor and coach the team to enable professional career progression
• Will require broader promotion of people strategy activities within CB Tech India
• Drive resource management in close collaboration with Corporate Bank (CB) global tribe and squad leadership
• Own and drive hygiene activities for platform by managing risk & control
• Streamline IT Application Ownership processes with appropriate automation and reduce total cost of ownership
• Partner with teams involved in recruitment of talent to enable organic growth of team(s)
• Manage stakeholder engagement while continuously improving the collaboration and communication channels with our partners in India operations and, global business leaders across multiple time zones

Your skills and experience

• 18-20 years of technical and functional experience in financial industry with focus on developing J2EE platforms and frameworks such as Spring Boot, React JS based user interfaces, streaming over Kafka, CI/CD, DevSecOps, Test Automation
• 10+ years of experience in engineering and managing high throughput, low latency, scalable and resilient systems
• 7+ years of experience managing cloud platforms (preferably GCP)
• Demonstrable engineering hands on development experience to lead engineering teams
• Strong Agile skills with running DevOps, IT Risk and control, SRE squads
• Experience with people development with respect to training, upskilling, providing right opportunities within India and global squads
• Knowledge in Banking and Payment system capabilities will be a huge plus.
