Job Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Executive for Packaging Material Procurement and Development to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing the procurement process of packaging materials, ensuring the timely availability of high-quality materials, and driving the development of new packaging solutions that meet the company's quality, sustainability, and cost-efficiency standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in packaging materials, supplier management, and a keen eye for innovation in packaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Procurement Management:

• Source and procure various types of packaging materials including but not limited to corrugated boxes, plastic films, glass, and metal packaging, ensuring the best pricing and quality.
• Negotiate with suppliers and vendors for competitive pricing, favorable terms, and timely delivery schedules.
• Maintain an updated database of suppliers and regularly assess supplier performance.
• Ensure materials are compliant with relevant regulatory and quality standards.
• Monitor inventory levels to ensure a continuous supply of packaging materials, preventing shortages or delays.

Packaging Development:

• Collaborate with product development, R&D, and design teams to create and develop innovative packaging solutions that align with the companys branding, functionality, and sustainability goals.
• Research and evaluate new materials and technologies to improve packaging design, cost efficiency, and sustainability.
• Work on packaging optimization strategies to minimize material usage, reduce costs, and enhance product safety during transportation and storage.
• Conduct trials and tests of new packaging materials to ensure they meet product requirements and perform under various conditions.

Supplier and Vendor Relationship Management:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers, fostering strategic partnerships.
• Regularly assess suppliers based on criteria such as delivery performance, cost, quality, and sustainability practices.
• Resolve any procurement issues or disputes with suppliers efficiently and professionally.

Cost Management and Budgeting:

• Track and manage the packaging materials budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement strategies.
• Work closely with finance and other departments to forecast future packaging material needs and set appropriate budgets.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality or efficiency.

Sustainability and Compliance:

• Work with internal teams to ensure that packaging solutions are aligned with the company's sustainability objectives, including reducing waste and using recyclable or eco-friendly materials.
• Ensure packaging materials comply with international and local environmental regulations and industry standards.
• Monitor and report on the environmental impact of packaging materials.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain accurate records of packaging materials procurement and development processes.
• Prepare reports on procurement activities, material usage, supplier performance, and packaging development progress for management review.

Qualifications:

• Degree/ Diploma: Indian institute of packaging.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Materials Science, or a related field.
• years of experience in packaging material procurement, packaging development, or a similar role.
• Strong understanding of packaging materials, suppliers, and market trends.
• Knowledge of sustainable packaging solutions and regulatory requirements.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with internal teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office and packaging procurement software/systems.
