Senior Food Technologist

Job description:

The Senior Food Technologist is responsible for leading the development, optimisation, and quality assurance of food products and processes. The role involves managing a team, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and collaborating with cross-functional departments to deliver innovative, high-quality products.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Development:

• Lead the development of new food products from concept to commercialisation.
• Improve existing product formulations to enhance quality, shelf-life, and cost-efficiency.
• Conduct sensory evaluations and shelf-life studies.

Process Optimization:

• Develop and optimise manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and maintain product integrity.
• Implement and monitor quality control procedures during production.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions to maintain production standards.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Ensure products and processes comply with food safety standards, regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA, FSSAI), and industry certifications (e.g., ISO, BRC).
• Maintain accurate documentation for audits and regulatory submissions.
• Should have good experience in handling Audit & Inspections.

Team Management and Training:

• Supervise, mentor, and train junior technologists and team members.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, procurement, and production.
• Facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions on food technology advancements.

Research and Innovation:

• Stay updated on trends, emerging technologies, and innovations in the food industry.
• Conduct research on new ingredients, technologies, and methodologies.
• Identify opportunities for sustainable and eco-friendly product development.

Key Skills and Competencies

• Strong expertise in food science, product formulation, and process engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of food safety standards, regulatory requirements, and quality assurance practices.
• Analytical thinking with problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Proficiency in laboratory techniques and sensory evaluation.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.

Qualifications Required:

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
• 6-8 years of experience in food product development, quality assurance, or related roles.
