About
The Climate and Sustainability Initiative (CSI) registered in Singapore is an international organisation, dedicated to the crucial task of decarbonising the economies of Asia and Africa. CSI's primary focus involves conducting comprehensive research and implementing strategic programs within the power, transport, industrial, and financial sectors. Our efforts will be instrumental in facilitating funding mechanisms that drive the transition toward sustainability.
CSI's work is broadly focused on solution design, development and implementation, supporting pilots on the ground for the broader adoption of technologies and solutions, etc. Beyond these aspects, on a need basis, around the gaps identified, the development and housing of implementation support facilities and programs aimed at helping underserved stakeholders in their decarbonisation journey is the modus operandi.
Position: Analyst, Climate and Sustainability Initiative
Location: New Delhi
Reporting to: Director
The CSI is seeking an Analyst with interdisciplinary proficiency in clean energy and finance. The ideal candidate should be proficient in corporate finance and financial statement analysis. The Analyst will be expected to take initiatives towards advancing the objectives of the CSI. This is an intellectually challenging environment, with a focus on research rigour, innovative thinking, and strategic outreach. We are looking for an enthusiastic and detail-oriented individual to join this new venture.
The Analyst will be tasked with:
- Performing rigorous quantitative and qualitative research.
- Undertaking financial analysis to assess the value added or potential value added within the different sectors and sub-sectors.
- Writing high-quality research pieces - papers, presentations, policy briefs etc.
- The successful applicant will be responsible for understanding technical, business, financial, and regulatory trends and should be able to successfully capture them quantitatively and qualitatively.
- The applicant will be expected to reach out to organizations (government and private) and sectoral experts to gauge the reasons behind a specific trend. Such analysis is then expected to be used by policymakers to frame guidelines/policies for government, investors, and industries to make important decisions.
- The Analyst's work is expected to feed into the final outputs of CSI, which would assist decision-makers in the public and private sectors.
In addition to the duties and responsibilities outlined below, the Analyst should be prepared, as and when necessary, to take on additional responsibilities and respond to unanticipated events and developments.
Job Duties and Accountabilities
Research
- Tracking market developments regularly through both primary and secondary research.
- Developing financial models for the stakeholders.
- Participating in knowledge-transfer activities, including collaborative meetings and training workshops with other research groups and institutions.
- Undertaking rigorous qualitative and quantitative analysis of market challenges and their impact on the sector under study.
- Reviewing large amounts of data and analysing information using a variety of mathematical tools and interdisciplinary methodologies.
General responsibilities - Programme Assistance
- Assisting with project implementation, including preparing presentations, fact sheets, and other communication material.
- Assisting the administrative team with the organisation of relevant events (whenever needed).
- Developing cordial & working relationships with industry stakeholders for timely access to data.
- Supporting efforts to use new media platforms for the wide dissemination of CSI's work and, in turn, closer engagement with the wider community.
Education
The ideal candidate should hold a master's degree with a background in finance. Bachelor's or master's level degrees in business, economics, finance or professional certifications such as CA/CFA in combination with degrees in engineering, sustainability, energy etc. are desirable.
Professional experience
- One to two years of experience in corporate finance, investment banking, consulting, multilateral/bilateral financial institutions, or think tanks.
- Prior experience related to the clean energy sector is desired.
- Experience in stakeholder management would be an added advantage.
