Job Overview:

We are seeking a Data Science Manager to lead and grow our team of ~10 data scientists. The ideal candidate will drive innovation in AI-driven document processing, ensure delivery against strategic goals (OKRs), and balance the demands of R&D with production-level deliverables. You will collaborate across cross-functional teams such as product Owners, Scrum Masters, DevOps, Engineering, and the Executive Team to define and implement solutions that push the boundaries of AI in document intelligence.

Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Team Management
• Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing data science team.
• Motivate and guide the team to achieve and surpass OKR results.
• Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development sessions.

• Strategic Planning & Delivery
• Collaborate with the executive team to define and manage the data science roadmap and balance R&D projects with production deliverables.
• Drive timely execution of projects, ensuring measurable business impact and alignment with organizational OKRs.
• Regularly assess and integrate emerging trends in LLMs and AI to keep our solutions cutting-edge.

• Technical Expertise & Innovation
• Provide guidance on the full data science lifecycle from data collection, feature engineering, modeling, and deployment to monitoring.
• Oversee the development of document classification and information extraction models that solve real-world business problems.
• Collaborate with platform teams to integrate and scale models across cloud environments.

• MLOps & Best Practices
• Understanding of MLOps processes to ensure reproducible, scalable, and robust model deployments.
• Implement and maintain best practices in code quality, version control, testing, and model performance monitoring.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Product Owners to translate business requirements into data science projects and prototypes.
• Work closely with Scrum Masters to adopt agile methodologies and optimize workflows.
• Collaborate with DevOps and Engineering teams to design and maintain infrastructure for large-scale AI solutions.
• Communicate with the Executive Team to provide updates, align on strategic priorities, and guide data-driven decision-making.

Skills and Tools:

Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field; MBA from a reputable university is a big plus

Experience:

• 5+ years in data science or related fields.
• 2+ years of people management experience, leading and growing data science teams.
• The ideal candidate has experience transitioning from a data scientist role into people management.
• Experience with NLP projects is preferred
• Experience with building SaaS based AI applications

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Python or R for data analysis and modeling.
• Strong grasp of machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Good understanding of MLOps tools and platforms (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for model deployment.
• Experience in NLP, document processing, or LLMs is highly preferred.
• Deep understanding of Machine Learning algorithms & principles (text classification, information extraction, text summarization, object detection, regression analysis, probabilistic models), and their application.
• Familiarity with Git and Docker
• Preparing and presenting Data Analysis results and Technical Concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication and presentation abilities, comfortable in interacting with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven track record of team building, motivating, and nurturing talent.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for innovation and continuous improvement.
• Effective communication and presentation abilities with the ability to translate technical concepts into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
• Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of high-quality Data Scientists.
