Data Modeler - SQL/Erwin (5-10 yrs)

Role Description :

We are looking for an experienced Data Modeler to join our team for a 6-month project. In this role, you will analyze and translate business needs into effective data models that support long-term solutions. You will work closely with the development team to design and implement both conceptual and physical data models while ensuring system consistency and cross-compatibility.

Key Responsibilities :

Business Analysis & Data Modeling :

- Analyze business requirements and translate them into long-term solution-oriented data models.

- Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders, and developers to ensure data models align with business goals.

Evaluating Existing Systems :

- Assess and evaluate current data systems, providing insights for potential improvements or optimizations.

- Ensure that existing systems can be enhanced or modified to meet new business needs.

Conceptual Data Models & Data Flows :

- Work with development teams to create conceptual data models, data flows, and mappings.

- Ensure data structures support efficient, scalable, and accurate data processing.

Best Practices & Consistency :

- Develop and implement best practices for data coding and design to ensure consistency across the data models and systems.

- Set standards for naming conventions, data types, and data quality.

System Modifications & Cross-Compatibility :

- Review and analyze modifications of existing data systems and models for cross-compatibility.

- Ensure that updates to the system do not disrupt data consistency or business functionality.

Physical Data Model Development :

- Implement strategies to transform conceptual data models into physical data models.

- Work on designing optimized data storage and retrieval solutions, ensuring performance and scalability.

Documentation & Reporting :

- Document data models, designs, and best practices for future reference and auditing purposes.

- Report on data architecture, challenges, and the progress of data model development.

Skills Required :

- Data Modeling Tools : Proficiency with ERWin, ERStudio, Hackolade for creating and managing data models.

- SQL & DBM : Strong knowledge of SQL and Database Management Systems (DBM), including design and performance optimization of database schemas.

- Conceptual & Physical Data Models : Experience with designing both conceptual and physical data models.

- Data Analysis : Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into data solutions.

- Best Practices : Familiarity with industry best practices for data modeling, including naming conventions, documentation, and data consistency.

- Collaboration : Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, developers, and database administrators.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Familiarity with cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).

- Experience with NoSQL databases and data modeling for non-relational data structures.

- Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
