Role & Responsibilities:

As a VMware and Windows Administrator at L3 level, you will be responsible for managing large-scale production server environments and ensuring the smooth functioning of mission-critical applications. Your role will involve handling escalated incidents, risk prediction, capacity planning, and managing both internal teams and vendors. You will also participate in technical transitions and provide documentation for seamless knowledge transfer.

Key responsibilities include :

Production Support :

- Manage large-scale production server environments, ensuring high availability and reliability.

- Handle escalated incidents and high-priority tickets related to VMware and Windows systems.

- Predict potential risks/impacts and participate in major changes or upgrades.

Data Center Operations :

- Oversee business and mission-critical applications in a data center environment.

- Monitor performance metrics and provide capacity planning and performance dashboards.

- Ensure adherence to operational procedures and SLAs.

Team Management & Vendor Coordination :

- Manage a technical team of 5-10 members, ensuring efficient service delivery and knowledge sharing.

- Coordinate with external vendors for system upgrades, troubleshooting, and critical issue resolution.

Infrastructure Migration & Upgrades :

- Plan and execute migrations and upgrades of existing VMware and Windows server infrastructure.

- Perform P2V migrations using various tools and ensure smooth transitions.

Documentation & Knowledge Management :

- Provide technical documentation for infrastructure, processes, and troubleshooting.

- Contribute to internal knowledge management systems for ongoing improvements.

Skills :

Must-Have Skills :

VMware Administration :

- Administer VMware ESX/VSphere infrastructure (Version 5.x and above).

- Create, manage, and troubleshoot ESX Servers and virtual machines.

- Proficient in P2V migrations, virtual network/storage connectivity, and vSphere Capacity validation.

- Knowledge of Snapshot management, HA & DRS, and vSphere OS performance tuning.

- Familiarity with ESX/VSphere hardware and OS upgrades.

Windows Server Administration :

- Strong knowledge in Windows Server Administration, including troubleshooting and performance tuning.

- Experience with Group Policy administration.

Scripting and Automation :

- Proficiency in PowerShell and PowerCLI scripting for automation tasks.

System Monitoring & Troubleshooting :

- Knowledge of system monitoring tools (e.g., BMC).

- Ability to troubleshoot hardware, firmware, and BIOS issues, with vendor coordination.

Nice-to-Have Skills :

UCS Blade Infrastructure :

- Familiarity with UCS Blade Infrastructure and UCS hardware.

Additional Technologies :

- Basic knowledge of Active Directory, Citrix, and Linux environments.

- Understanding of RAID technologies (RAID 0+1, RAID 1, RAID 5).

- Familiarity with Storage & Networking concepts.

Internal to Wipro Responsibilities :

- Administer Active Directory services and manage user accounts.

- Perform patch management, antivirus management, and ensure regular system maintenance.

- Monitor and analyze logs and alerts, ensuring proactive issue resolution.

- Carry out disaster recovery activities and provide solutions for backup/restore management.

- Contribute to incident, change, and problem management processes.

- Support vendor management for hardware and software issues.
