Job Requirements

Mold Assessment Engineer will be required to perform the following duties:

• Assist and/or direct supplier mold technician in the disassembly and reassembly of mold.
• Visual inspect molded components and the molds that produce the components at manufacturing supplier locations
• Complete mold assessment reports and enter the data into a software system
• Plan business travel, visit supplier sites, communicate with the suppliers scope of visit and schedule all activities.
• Prepare and execute mold assessment introduction and close out meetings with supplier.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience as Journeyman Mold Maker, Mold Technician, or Mold Process Engineer within at least one of the following: Injection Molding, Stretch Blow Molding, Injection Blow Molding, or Extrusion Blow Molding.
• Possess a thorough understanding of every aspect of the mold manufacturing process: comprehending and interpreting mold drawings, customer mold standards, (DFM) Design For Manufacturing, troubleshooting of molds versus process related issues.
• Experience in identification of defects related to mold steel design, process and equipment related defects.
• Previous experience in molding with an emphasis on, following manufacturing activities such as:
• Machining operations,
• Assembly operations
• Mold functionality and mold qualification programs.
• Experience in breaking down, evaluating and assessing molds, down to the component level, in one or more of the following molding disciplines: INJ, IBM, SBM, ISBM, and EBM. Identify and ensure that all critical components of the tool meet acceptable conditions and product performance, and issues are identified and resolved for optimizing mold manufacturability, and process capability.
• Engineers must be excellent communicators, willing to travel up to 50% throughout North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
• Proficient with Microsoft Email, Excel, Power Point, and computer driven software data entry
• Experience in documenting tooling performance criteria, and condition assessment related issues, performing onsite evaluations, remote mold evaluations, creating and managing work orders and mold conditions in the COAST Mold Management System.
• Experience in inspecting finished product for visual defects to understand mold repairs, rebuilds, and preventative maintenance requirements.
• Experience in troubleshooting mold issues, collecting and analyzing data, leading investigations, and developing a (RCA) Root Cause Analysis related to molds.
• Experience in Mold Setup and Processing of different materials and mold types, including mold machine issues (level platens square ongoing damage due to improper press setup, H2O throughput and temperature variations.
