Assistant Engineer – Highways SE

Engineer/ Jr. Level Engineer - Highways, you will play a responsible role in designing and detailing of highway/Civil works projects deliveries. The role requires involvement of early design stage, the ability to use design tool and design deliverables against Swedish Highways Engineering standards for each stage of a project is a pre-requisite and training and guidance will be provided where necessary. As part of the Nordics Swedish business the successful candidate will sit alongside colleagues located in our Noida/Bangalore office and work closely with the Swedish colleagues based in Sweden. The appointed candidate's primary responsibilities will comprise assisting/supporting the design activities i.e. geometric design, roadway modelling and production of design deliverables for Roads & Highways projects basis of their lead countries instructions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Design and Development:
- Collaborate with Engineers/senior engineers and lead country colleagues to create highway design and detailing tasks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements.
- Utilize software programs (e.g., Civil 3D. AutoCAD, Novapoint etc.) to design and draft highway layout plans, vertical and horizontal alignments, intersection designs, and other project details/deliverables.
- Conduct thorough research to identify the most effective and sustainable method, processes, and design routine for highway tender, construction, and maintenance.
- Ensure tasks/activities are completing on time, within budget, and in compliance with relevant regulations and quality standards.
2. STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT:
- Foster effective communication, coordination, and collaboration within the highways team and cross-functional departments and lead country project managers in perspective of smooth project execution.
- Follow regular design execution guidelines to ensure /right quality and construction doability, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Understand guidance and support during the design development phases, including the evaluation of design basis provided, identify design departures and mitigation opportunities, and prepare solutions for internal review/approval.
3. Quality Assurance and Safety:
- Follow the quality control procedures and best practices throughout the design phase to ensure high-quality project delivery.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with design, safety, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure the Quality Assurance documentation and records are maintained. Ensure all design activities, incoming and outgoings are undergone appropriate self check and review steps followed before delivery.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. A master’s degree is an advantage.
- A minimum of 2 - 4 years of experience in highway engineering and design detailing.
- International projects exposure, codes and practices are preferred.
- You will be competent using leading design software i.e. Civil 3D, AutoCAD.
- Knowledge on C3D-Naviate, Novapoint, Navisworks are preferred.
- You should have good understanding of Roadway and its junctions modelling and earthworks and ditches design.
- You should have good understanding of Highways Design deliverables.
- Preferred to have Nordics countries Highways design practice and exposure to the Euro code /TrV Swedish standards and relevant geometric design manuals.
- Preferred to be able to demonstrate some experience and working knowledge of relevant technical design guidance and international standards, such as DMRB, MfS, TSRGD, HCD, and IAN 184 etc.
- Knowledge of highway design principles, codes, standards, and regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to propose innovative and efficient solutions.
- Excellent design and time management skills that ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and possess teamwork attitude.
- You will take responsibility for own personal development with the support of line manager and follow an agreed development plan.

- Fluent spoken English with excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
- Self-motivated and adaptable, maintaining a confident demeanour when change occurs.
