Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Construction Engineer with expertise in chemical plant construction. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing all civil and structural activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards. The role requires strong technical knowledge in industrial construction, including foundations, structural steel, reinforced concrete structures, and site development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Execution: Oversee all civil construction activities related to the chemical plant, ensuring timely completion within budget and quality standards.
- Site Management: Monitor construction activities, manage subcontractors, and ensure compliance with engineering and safety standards.
- Structural Works: Supervise the construction of foundations, concrete structures, structural steel works, underground utilities, roads, and drainage systems.
- Safety Compliance: Implement and enforce strict safety measures in accordance with local regulations and industry standards.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all construction work adheres to quality control procedures and standards, conducting inspections and resolving any technical issues.
- Material Management: Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure timely delivery of construction materials and maintain inventory control.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with project managers, architects, mechanical, electrical, and process engineers to ensure seamless integration of civil works.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to avoid project delays or cost overruns.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of site activities, progress reports, and documentation for audits and client reporting.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in industrial construction, preferably in chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, or pharmaceutical plants.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, or Primavera.
- Strong knowledge of foundation engineering, structural steel design, and concrete works.
- Familiarity with international construction codes and standards (e.g., ACI, ASTM, ASCE, IS, BS, OSHA, NFPA).
- Experience with project scheduling, cost control, and contract management.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work in challenging environments with strict safety and regulatory compliance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Construction Management, Structural Engineering, or related field.
- Knowledge of EPCM project execution methodologies.
Work Environment:
- The role involves on-site work at the chemical plant construction site.
- Frequent interactions with multidisciplinary teams.
- Exposure to hazardous materials and industrial environments requiring adherence to PPE and safety protocols.
