X Ray Technician

1. Key Accountabilities

Major Activities / Tasks

I. Patient Management

• Provide clear and compassionate explanations of X-Ray procedures to patients, addressing their inquiries and concerns to ensure understanding and comfort.
• Operate X-ray equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to radiation safety regulations and minimizing patient exposure.
• Position patients accurately and safely for optimal image acquisition, taking into account potential limitations and following radiation safety protocols.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment in the scanning area.
• Perform basic patient monitoring and document relevant observations accurately.

II. Technical Skills

• Operate and maintain specialized X-ray equipment used for chest and lung imaging, including portable and fluoroscopic units.
• Using X-Ray equipment to take radiographic images as per physicians documented orders such as chest X-rays, bronchography, and other specialized lung imaging techniques as needed.
• Ensure image quality meets established standards and identify potential artifacts or technical issues requiring repeat imaging.
• Assist with image processing and archiving within the PACS system.
• Stay up to date on advancements in chest X-ray technology and protocols.
• Follow NABH standards.

III. Communication and Collaboration

• Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and answering questions clearly and calmly.
• Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to discuss imaging findings and contribute to patient care plans.
• Document patient assessments accurately promptly in the electronic medical record system.

2. Major Challenges

• Ensuring quality control calibrating equipment, conducting proficiency tests, and ensuring proper data management.
• Follow radiation safety protocols and guidelines to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and yourself.
• Adhere to regulatory requirements and standards set forth by relevant governing bodies.
• Maintain open communication with patients throughout the scanning process, addressing any questions or anxieties they may have.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and sanitation standards to prevent the spread of infections.

Educational qualifications:

DNB / DMRD (Radiodiagnosis)

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in performing X-Ray
