Scope of Work:
As a Manager for underwriting risk management at Jar, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. You ll team with best in industry professionals to develop and test risk strategies that ultimately impact the bottom line (revenue growth and risk management) and you will do it all in a collaborative environment that values your insight, encourages you to take on new responsibilities, promote continuous learning, and reward innovation.
This role will have accountability across maintaining and optimising underwriting strategies by setting up the approval decline policy, loan amount strategy, and pricing strategy. You will also work on creating multiple A/B testing to optimising the current strategy as well find future pockets to explore from a lending standpoint. A bigger part of this role will also include monitoring the strategy by measuring key behavioural metrics and reporting out to leadership from future recommendation standpoint

Specific Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Strategic: Develop risk strategies to manage risk and drive growth amid changing consumer and regulatory demands.
  • Credit Risk: Improve credit performance by linking future trends with historical data and testing hypotheses.
  • Execution: Manage and execute strategies, collaborating with the Risk Technology team to meet business requirements.
  • Partnership: Work with Product, Merchant, Growth teams, and others to enhance risk management.
  • Strategic & Analytic Orientation: Utilize strong analytical skills and quantitative thinking to make data-driven decisions and solve problems.
  • Strong Business Judgment: Make informed decisions with a balanced and responsible approach.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Communicate effectively, influence strategically, and negotiate well.
  • Clear Results Orientation: Focus on achieving both short- and long-term goals in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or Master s degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 3+ years experience in credit risk management roles (preferably consumer loans) in an Indian bank, NBFC, or e-commerce start-up
  • 1+ years experience in people management role

Required skills:
  • Should have hands on experience on designing underwriting risk policies for digital lending products.
  • Strong analytical mind-set and numeric abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of credit risk analysis/underwriting principles, methods, and practices.
  • Proficient with MS Office. Experienced in data analysis tools like SQL, Tableau is preferred.
  • Ability to approach problems in a quantitative and qualitative manner, attention to details.
  • Strong collaboration skills, and the ability to build rapport with members of other departments.
