About the Role :
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Database Administrator to join our growing technology team.
You will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our databases.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with critical systems, contribute to database architecture, and ensure the smooth operation of our data infrastructure.
Responsibilities :
Database Administration : Install, configure, and maintain database systems (e.g, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases).
Performance Tuning & Optimization : Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
Backup & Recovery : Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability and disaster recovery preparedness.
Security Management : Implement and enforce database security measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access. Manage user accounts, permissions, and roles.
Data Integrity : Ensure data integrity and consistency through data validation, constraints, and other techniques.
Database Design : Collaborate with developers and architects to design database schemas and optimize data models.
Capacity Planning : Monitor database capacity and plan for future growth to ensure adequate resources are available.
Troubleshooting & Problem Solving : Diagnose and resolve database issues, including performance problems, connectivity issues, and data corruption.
Automation : Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting languages (e.g, SQL, Python, PowerShell).
Documentation : Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of database systems, configurations, and procedures.
Collaboration & Communication : Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless database operations.
24/7 Support (if applicable) : Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical database systems.
Technical Skills :
Database Technologies : Proficiency in one or more database systems (e.g, SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Cassandra).
SQL : Strong SQL skills for querying, data manipulation, and database administration tasks.
Operating Systems : Familiarity with operating systems relevant to the database platforms (e.g, Windows Server, Linux).
Scripting : Experience with scripting languages (e.g, SQL, Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automating database tasks.
Performance Monitoring & Tuning Tools : Experience with database performance monitoring and tuning tools.
Backup & Recovery Tools : Knowledge of backup and recovery tools and strategies.
Security Best Practices : Understanding of database security best practices and techniques.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery : Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions for databases.
Cloud Database Services (Preferred) : Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g, AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL) is a plus.
ETL Tools (Preferred) : Familiarity with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools is a plus.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4-8 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
- Relevant database certifications (e.g, Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, Oracle Database Administrator) are a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
