Responsibilities: Manage coordinate purchasing activities for raw materials packaging materials of food products. Create a strong NOP NPOP procurement network for certified organic raw materials. Establish farm-level network procurement and create a strong database of farmers commodity-wise. Maintain the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation. Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers Determine quantity and timing of deliveries Manage daily purchasing activities Manage supplier relations and negotiate contracts, prices, timelines, etc. Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation Coordinate with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs. Ensure that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications. Prepare purchase budgets Train new employees in the purchasing process and how to use the purchasing system. Propose improvements to the current purchasing system that will improve vendor relationships and lower the cost of doing business Collaborate with inventory control and sales to develop metrics for gauging inventory level needs and then maintain those levels throughout the year Take the lead in creating profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to help offset losses Requirements Skills Proven working experience as Purchasing Manager, Agent or Officer in the ORGANIC FOOD INDUSTRY Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management A knack for negotiation and networking Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures Degree in business administration or a related field. Experience as a purchasing manager or in a similar position. Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management. Supervisory and management experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills. Strong planning and organizational skills. Ability to work independently.
