  1. Tool Design:

    • Develop detailed 2D and 3D drawings and specifications using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, etc.).
  2. Prototyping and Testing:

    • Create prototypes for new tooling designs.
    • Conduct trials and tests to evaluate tool performance, functionality, and durability.
    • Modify designs based on test results to optimize tool functionality.
  3. Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams to ensure the tools meet specifications and manufacturing needs.
    • Liaise with suppliers for sourcing materials or tooling components.
    • Work with the R&D team to integrate new technologies or techniques into tool design.
  4. Problem-Solving:

    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tool performance, production bottlenecks, or tooling failures.
    • Provide solutions to optimize tooling and reduce downtime during production.
  5. Cost Management:

    • Estimate the costs of tool design and materials, ensuring designs are cost-effective.
    • Suggest improvements to minimize tool wear and reduce the overall cost of tooling.
  6. Maintenance and Upgrades:

    • Recommend modifications or upgrades to existing tools to improve performance or extend tool life.
    • Maintain detailed records of tools, including specifications, maintenance schedules, and wear history.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience in tool design, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes (e.g., machining, injection molding, casting, etc.).
  • Proficiency in CAD software and other design tools.
  • Knowledge of material properties and their application in tooling.
  • Strong understanding of production processes, tolerances, and design for manufacturability.

Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
