Role & responsibilities -
Looking for a Social Compliance Developer , who can also perform Environmental Audits as well.
SSC
The candidate must be able to do social audits.
Engages with suppliers/PUs to support the SLCP process.
Review of SLCP results, SLCP verifications (relevant only for SLCP-approved verifiers),
onboarding visits for SLCP PUs
Engages with Better Work to support Better Work assessments and the remediation process. Manages and supports the execution of the remediation process for factories, including meeting with suppliers & physical remediation visits of PUs to observe progress, helping suppliers/PUs to explore and act upon the best possible sustainable solutions.
Independently conduct assessment/investigation at the factory as per labor standards and C&A Code. •
Review the reports of other SSC Developers as part of the C&A quality assurance program. • Independently produce high-quality reports in English on assessment findings and recommendations for improvement.
Engagement with the hubs sourcing team to improve the supply chain can be added as one of the responsibilities.
SCM
Coordinate the implementation of the Sustainable Chemicals Management Program across the country, including trainings, audits, wastewater testing, performance tracking, and corrective action plan management (initial focus on hazardous chemicals, gradually expanding to water consumption, water pollution, and energy consumption).
Work closely with the SCM manager to provide regular progress reports on the status of chemical management and environmental performance KPIs in collaboration with the SCM and the wider Sustainable Supply Chain (SSC) team. •
Provide practical recommendations on how to improve the environmental performance of C&A's supply chain leading to the elimination of hazardous chemicals. •
Engage in capacity-building activities with the wet processing facilities to drive environmental performance forward.
Manage relationships with local external auditing and testing service providers. •
Work closely with the local Fabrics and SSC team to identify and track all wet processing facilities in C&A's supply chain. •
Coordinate SCM activities with the local fabric team, collaborating to drive improvements in C&A-nominated fabric mills. •
Work with the local quality team to support any RSL issues to ensure chemical compliance of final products. •
Represent C&A to coordinate ZDHC work streams and actively contribute to its objectives. • Support the SCM program manager on any other related activities and projects across the country.
Preferred candidate profile
Good knowledge of health & safety, environmental & labor regulations, freedom of association in relevant countries, and management systems for social compliance
Observant and very attentive to details •
Strong team player •
Excellent communication & training skills, time management/project management skills • Excellent assessment and report writing skills in English and in the relevant local language(s) • Strong analytical skills and ability to structure work efficiently •
Travel is required.
Strong chemical knowledge is essential; brand experience is preferred. •
High proficiency in English. •
Prior experience reducing environmental impacts up the supply chain, particularly in the manufacturing of textiles. •
Knowledge of Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals program. •
Knowledge of environmental impacts in textile manufacturing, particularly chemicals up the supply chain. •
Knowledge of sustainability best practices in textile manufacturing and mRSL implementation. •
