Bim Modeler

A BIM (Building Information Modeling) Modeler specializing in Civil works is responsible for creating, managing, and coordinating 3D models of civil engineering projects, including infrastructure, utilities, roads, bridges, and other construction projects. The BIM Modeler ensures the accuracy, efficiency, and compliance of designs with project standards and specifications while collaborating with multiple disciplines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Model Creation and Development:
• Create and manage 3D BIM models for civil projects using software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, or Bentley MicroStation.
• Develop detailed designs and drawings, including roads, drainage, earthworks, grading, and utilities.
• Generate 2D drawings, construction details, and other deliverables from the BIM model.
• Coordination and Collaboration:
• Collaborate with architects, structural, MEP, and geotechnical teams to integrate civil models with other disciplines.
• Resolve clashes and ensure model coordination through tools like Navisworks or BIM 360.
• Compliance and Standards:
• Ensure models adhere to relevant codes, standards, and project specifications.
• Maintain consistent file naming and model organization as per project requirements.
• Quantity Takeoffs and Reports:
• Extract accurate quantities and data from models for cost estimation and procurement.
• Generate reports and schedules for project planning and management.
• Documentation and Updates:
• Prepare and update BIM documentation, including model review logs, clash detection reports, and revision records.
• Update models as per design revisions and maintain model integrity throughout the project lifecycle.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Education:
• Bachelors degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Experience:
• 1–10 years of experience in BIM modeling, specifically for civil engineering projects.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in BIM software like Autodesk Civil 3D, Revit, Bentley MicroStation, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with clash detection tools such as Navisworks or BIM 360.
• Knowledge of civil engineering design concepts and construction techniques.
• Understanding of project standards like PAS 1192, ISO 19650, or local codes.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.

Additional Requirements:

• Experience in GIS integration with BIM is a plus.
• Knowledge of 4D/5D BIM and construction simulation is advantageous.
• Certification in BIM tools or civil software is preferred.
