Software Development Engineer

Location: Bengaluru, India | 100% on-site

The impact you ll make:

We are looking for a talented and passionate senior engineer to lead the way on the development and maintenance for a subset of ABG backend web services. These services support our mobile and web ecommerce products - the primary driver of $9B in annual revenue.

This role requires a resourceful individual, a persistent problem solver, and a strong hands-on engineer.

What you ll do:

• Ideate, design, develop, QA, and maintain technical solutions that drive the Rental Value Stream products through digital systems.
• Work with your Product Managers and Architects to plan the development and deployment details of work, always ensuring excellent monitoring, alerting, automation, and observability.
• Estimate, build, observe, test, and learn in an Agile environment where sprints last 2 weeks.
• Passionate about problem solving and creative thinking when it comes to a desire to solve real-world customer friction factors and challenges.
• Enthusiastically plan sprints with the team, chunking down issues into small, manageable pieces.
• Execute against sprint plans by creating code, with a high QA automation code coverage and feeding relevant progress and re-plans back into product teams, sprint updates, release and timebox plans.
• Always creating sustainable, maintainable, and fully monitored code.
• Use excellent diagnostic skills to raise and resolve defects; determine root cause to issues and provide solutions and offer workarounds to a business problem where development engineering becomes too complex.
• Apply your mathematical and scientific knowledge and experience to create pragmatic, incremental solutions to innovate and resolve real-world problems robustly and at scale.

What we re looking for:

• Top notch-programming skills in Java and related frameworks such as Spring Boot
• Strong Experience in REST API based Microservices development & integration that includes long running orchestration services
• Experience implementing services with modern authentication using OAuth 2.0, SAML, JWT
• Experience or Knowledge to distributed Caching solutions such as Redis
• Experience implementing Encryption/Decryption & SSL
• Implementation Experience in RDBMS (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and good SQL query knowledge
• Development experience using Gitlab and JIRA
• Strong knowledge on Source Control Management using Git, CodeCommit and BitBucket
• Experience with testing frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG & Rest Assured
• Experience on Apache Kafka Event Streaming technology
• Hands-on Experience with Gradle build tools
• Experience on Kubernetes and Docker commands
• Minimum basic knowledge on Cloud Technology (preferably AWS) and a thirst to learn more
