CloudOps Engineer

Position Description:

The SRE team provides hosting, operations, database, security, and scaling support to Aurigos flag ship products hosted on AWS Cloud Infrastructure. SRE role at Aurigo is to enable the business to deliver, operate, maintain, and scale our flagship products.

For Aurigo to maintain such an awesome product, Aurigo has a need to design, implement and maintain highly available and responsive cloud infrastructures. Aurigo requires a dynamic Site Reliability Engineer with both Application management and Infrastructure administration skills. The engineer should be capable of delivering a highly available and reliable Application environment and will be responsible for a variety of technical, operational, and consultative activities, including system administration, release engineering tasks for our flagship products. It is critically important to the company that the applications and database systems offer the highest levels of reliability and performance. We are committed to providing 99.99% uptime.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in deploying and managing AWS cloud services (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, ALB, R53, API Gateway, CloudFront etc) in production environments using CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Must hold AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA) certification (mandatory for candidates with 4+ years of total experience).
• Proficiency in Windows and Linux OS administration, including day-to-day operations like patching, security hardening, and vulnerability mitigation.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts, including VPC peering, VPN connectivity, load balancers, and advanced cloud networking solutions using Aviatrix.
• Experience with web application security, including tools like CrowdStrike, WAFs (Web Application Firewalls), and endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions for enhanced security and threat mitigation.
• Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring tools like New Relic, CloudWatch, OpenSearch, and Sumo Logic.
• Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell, Python, or Shell, with the ability to read, understand, and debug complex scripts.
• Experience in conducting regular disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plan (BCP) tests for AWS application components, identifying and implementing improvements.
• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools like Qualys or similar for regular security assessments and remediation.
• Familiarity with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) concepts, including SLA, SLI, and SLO. Must have experience handling production issues and outages for web/SaaS applications and a strong understanding of ITIL processes, with expertise in Incident Management, Change Management, and Risk Management (mandatory).
• Candidates with Terraform Associate or Terraform Authoring and Operations Professional certifications are preferred.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting issues and perform hands-on administration of applications, databases, servers, and AWS environments.
• Build and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
• Leverage strong experience in microservices architecture and associated tools for development and operational tasks.
• Utilize monitoring tools to identify gaps and risks in infrastructure components and address them in a timely manner.
• Clearly communicate technical information to both developers and business stakeholders in an understandable manner.
• Participate in the implementation and audit of compliance frameworks such as StateRAMP, SOC 2, AWS Government Competency, and FedRAMP when necessary.
• Troubleshoot performance, security, and stability issues across infrastructure and applications.
• Effectively participate in technical and customer reviews, ensuring clarity for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Be part of a 24/7 On-Call rotation schedule, one week per month, to handle production issues or critical project delivery requirements.
• Participate in monthly patching activities on one Saturday per month; compensatory time off will be provided for use on any weekday.
