Job Description: Propulsion Engineer (Cryogenic Engine Design and Testing)
Position Overview:
Astrophel Aerospace is seeking a passionate and skilled Propulsion Engineer to work on the design and testing of cryogenic rocket engines. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in developing advanced propulsion systems for space launch vehicles. A foundational understanding of turbomachinery concepts and their integration into propulsion systems is required.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
Design, develop, and optimize cryogenic rocket engines with a focus on performance, reliability, and reusability.
Collaborate on the development of core engine components, including injectors, combustion chambers, and nozzles.
Analysis and Simulation:
Conduct thermodynamic, structural, and fluid dynamic analyses of propulsion systems.
Use simulation tools to evaluate engine performance and ensure compliance with mission requirements.
Testing and Validation:
Develop and execute testing protocols for cryogenic propulsion systems, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
Analyze test data to validate designs and drive iterative improvements.
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with manufacturing, avionics, and integration teams to ensure seamless development and deployment of propulsion systems.
Provide inputs on materials, fabrication methods, and component assembly processes.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of design iterations, analyses, and test results.
Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in propulsion system design and testing, with an emphasis on cryogenic engines.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in engineering tools such as ANSYS, CFD software, and SolidWorks.
Foundational understanding of turbomachinery and its application in propulsion systems.
Familiarity with programming languages like Python or MATLAB for data analysis.
Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes for cryogenic applications.
Key Competencies:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with reusable rocket engines.
Familiarity with propellants like LOX, LH2, or LCH4.
Hands-on experience in testing and troubleshooting propulsion systems.
