Job Description
As an Electrical Engineer Data Centre, you will be a key part of the Focus market team to provide data center project delivery as a part of our multi-disciplinary team. Work with senior engineers and manage timely delivery of designs to agreed cost constraints. You need to take a prominent role in respect of the data centre elements of such projects in the production of calculations, drawings, tender documents, feasibility studies, condition reports, etc.
Manage technical requirements of the data centre project teams to deliver high quality engineering services designs, supervising engineers and CAD staff. Manage timely delivery of designs to agreed cost constraints.
Should be holding a relevant degree, be professionally qualified with an appropriate Institution and seeking registration / licensed status.
Relationships
You will be working with a high degree of autonomy, reporting to the particular Senior Engineer or Project Manager in respect of project performance, under the technical management / supervision of the technical director.
Work with graduate engineers, liaise with technicians. Liaise with other buildings services engineers throughout Arup.
Have contact with external collaborators such as architects, clients, project managers, quantity surveyors and contractors.
You need to plan engineering deliverables with senior engineer and Project Leads/Discipline Leads. You will be able to Receive and agree on client briefing information and disseminate it to your team, need to Liaison with co-professionals and clients responsible for representing this discipline in project meetings and involve in the development of innovative designs, presentation of initial concepts in sketch form and production of specs/ drawings including briefing and supervision of engineers and BIM staff.
Responsibilities
Participate in data centre project teams.
Receive and agree client briefing information disseminate to Arup project team.
Liaison with co-professionals and clients responsible for representing Arup in project meetings.
Presentation of initial concepts in sketch form.
Production of specs / drawings including briefing and supervision of engineers and CAD staff.
Site liaison, inspection and witness testing
Design and/or survey of building projects and services installations.
To develop in a supervisory role within the building services team.
Ultimately to become a key member of the group management structure.
Requirements
The candidate should hold a first or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or other recognised qualification within the construction industry
Be professionally qualified (chartered) and/or aspiring to registration.
6+ years of relevant work experience. Data centre, hospital or laboratory sector experience would be an advantage.
The candidate should have basic knowledge of local, international standards, Data Centre industry practices, local chief fire office requirements, authority requirements etc.
Produce engineering designs, calculations and specifications, using appropriate technical software.
Prepare plant room space planning, schematics.
Develop hand sketches for BIM engineers/modelers.
Developing concepts, appraising and recommending optimum design solutions.
Develop the spatial and technical co-ordination of the building services and their integration into the building design.
Developing and encouraging sustainable building design on projects pushing the boundaries for data centre design.
Coordinating the work of others and coordinating work with engineers of other disciplines including in-house specialists.
Working across multiple projects with different design teams.
Engage and develop technical skills of electrical design.
You should be having hands on experience on working engineering tools or softwares like Etap, Amtech, Dilaux, Revit, AutoCAD etc.
You should have basic knowledge of local and international codes & best engineering practices.
Participate in attending Factory Acceptance Test (FATs) for key plant and equipment.
Spend time on site during construction and commissioning to ensure successful project delivery.
Maintaining a wide array of professional relationships in the data centre industry (clients / suppliers / competitors, etc.)
Actively promote Arup capabilities through technical publications and participating in DC related events.
Estimation- Input study, generation of RFI s, field device selection, preparation of BOQ, costing, cable schedule.
Coordination of work with all members of multi-disciplinary design teams.
Understanding trends and standard methodologies in the industry.
Able to demonstrate innovative design ability, engineering skills and knowledge
Able to quickly develop successful team relationships
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Able to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines is essential
Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)
Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills Highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges
Daily contact with internal Project Managers / Directors.
Regular liaison with outside organisations: clients, architects, contractors etc through team meetings.
The Mumbai office primarily, also elsewhere in India and business trips to other countries may be required.
