APPIT Software - Database Administrator - SQL Server (5-8 yrs)

Responsibilities :

Security :

- Implement and manage Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) for SQL Server databases, including :

1. Configuring encryption hierarchies (Server Master Key, Database Master Key)

2. Managing encryption keys and ensuring secure storage

2. Enabling TDE on databases

3. Encrypting and decrypting databases as needed

- Understanding performance considerations of TDE

- Maintaining proper data backups and restores for TDE databases

AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AGs) :

- Design, configure, and manage AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AGs) for high availability and disaster recovery :

- Manage Single Subnet Failover Clusters (installation, configuration, troubleshooting)

- Manage Multi-Subnet Failover Clusters (installation, configuration, troubleshooting)

- Effectively handle failover and failback processes

- Manage and troubleshoot multiple AG replicas

- Troubleshoot any issues related to AGs

Patching :

Implement a robust patching strategy for SQL Server databases :

- Apply security patches to standalone SQL Server instances

- Manage patching processes for AlwaysOn Availability Groups clusters

- Troubleshoot any issues encountered during patching

Migration/Upgradation :

- Oversee the migration of databases to new SQL Server instances, ensuring smooth data transfer.

- Perform in-place upgrades of AlwaysOn Availability Group database servers.

Performance Tuning :

- Identify and diagnose performance bottlenecks within SQL Server databases :

- Investigate and resolve slow query issues and database hangs

- Analyze wait statistics to pinpoint performance problems

- Handle blocking and deadlock situations effectively

Qualifications :

- Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.

- Strong understanding of SQL Server security best practices, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE).

- In-depth knowledge of AlwaysOn Availability Groups (AGs) for high availability and disaster recovery.

- Experience with database patching procedures and troubleshooting patching issues.

- Proven ability to migrate databases and perform in-place upgrades.

- Expertise in performance tuning techniques, including wait statistics analysis and resolving blocking/deadlocks.

- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
