Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Summary:

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, and validation of electrical systems for a Greenfield pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, optimizing power distribution, and integrating energy-efficient solutions to support uninterrupted operations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Project Planning & Execution

• Design, develop, and oversee the installation of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, UPS, and grounding systems.
• Review electrical load calculations, single-line diagrams (SLD), and panel layouts.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and instrumentation teams for seamless project execution.
• Ensure compliance with GMP, FDA, WHO, MHRA, and other pharma regulatory requirements.
• Prepare User Requirement Specifications (URS), Design Qualification (DQ), and Risk Assessments.
• Supervise electrical contractors, vendors, and site engineers for quality execution of electrical work.

2. Compliance & Safety

• Ensure electrical systems comply with IEC, NEC, IS, IEEE, and local electrical codes.
• Design and implement explosion-proof electrical systems for classified zones.
• Ensure power backup systems (DG sets, UPS, battery banks) are in place for uninterrupted production.
• Conduct electrical safety audits and risk assessments.

3. Power Management & Energy Efficiency

• Optimize power usage by implementing energy-efficient solutions (LED lighting, VFDs, solar panels, etc.).
• Work on harmonic analysis, power factor correction, and load balancing to reduce energy costs.
• Implement SCADA/BMS-based power monitoring systems for real-time energy tracking.

4. Installation, Testing & Commissioning

• Oversee installation, commissioning, and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) of electrical equipment.
• Ensure proper calibration of electrical panels, transformers, and motors.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for electrical equipment.

5. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for electrical systems.
• Troubleshoot power failures, electrical faults, and equipment breakdowns.
• Train plant operators and maintenance teams on electrical safety and best practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Education:

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.

Experience:

• 12+ years of experience in pharmaceutical / biotech / API / sterile manufacturing projects.
• Hands-on experience with HV/LV panels, transformers, generators, UPS systems, and electrical distribution.
• Familiarity with ATEX/IECEx-certified electrical systems for hazardous areas.
• Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and Building Management Systems (BMS) for electrical monitoring.

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in power system design, fault analysis, and electrical load calculations.
• Experience in DG sets, transformers, HT/LT switchgear, and UPS systems.
• Understanding of energy conservation techniques and renewable energy integration.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes (IEC, IS, NEC, IEEE) and GMP requirements.
