Instructional Design Specialist

At AIPL, an Instructional design - Specialist is responsible for course development, deployment, and maintenance, but most importantly an LXD creates engaging, real-world, high-quality learning experiences that delight our learners and bring them back to us again and again. The LX team works with amazing Engineering Subject Matter Experts and content development vendors to deliver fun, modern modules and courses.

Working with the Manager of Learning Experience, the Instructional design - Specialist will develop AIPL learning solutions, courses and programs, and content, and maintain/revise existing course material and programs as needed.

Responsibilities of this position break down roughly as:

• Instructional Design (major responsibility)
• Design and develop effective, engaging, authentic/applied learning experiences leveraging sound learning science and instructional design principles
• Perform instructional needs analysis
• Collaborate with SMEs and other stakeholders on course/program development
• Develop course and program competency mapping
• Create storyboards for modules and course content
• Develop and iterate on course prototypes (i.e., learning experiences in multiple modalities including digital and face-to-face)
• Apply principles of accessibility and universal design to curriculum development
• Design and develop outcomes-based, authentic assessments
• Review existing courses and perform maintenance as needed, based on analysis of results of course evaluations and data gathered from real learner experiences
• Educational Technology Implementation (Major responsibility)
• Develop course modules and materials using modern ed tech tools, including LMSs, content management systems, etc.
• Review and edit course materials within the LMS
• Produce new content within the LMS in all formats (e.g., text, audio, video, graphics, etc.)
• Collect data and create reports based on information in the LMS, content management system, and/or other educational technology platforms/software
• Collaborate with project team using various online tools.
• Project Management - Aprox 20%
• Plan and execute course development timelines and milestones
• Work effectively with vendors in course development activities
• Track revenue, invoices, and expenses related to course projects
• Ensure timely delivery of completed course materials
• Facilitate course project meetings as needed
• Maintain course project records, meeting minutes, etc.
• Provide project updates to stakeholders
• Other projects as assigned
• Any other duties or projects that may be assigned by Manger, Learning Experience

Bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, instructional technology, or a related field

2. Master's degree in instructional design, education, instructional technology, or a related field

3. Certification in instructional design from organizations such as the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) or the Association for Talent Development (ATD)

4. Advanced degrees such as a Ph.D. in instructional design or educational technology may be required for more advanced or specialized roles in the field
