Software Development Manager, Alexa Daily Essentials

The Alexa Daily Essentials - Excellence (ADEX) team seeks an engineering manager within the Alexa Domains organization. Our team combines software and systems engineering expertise to deliver essential Alexa features.
The engineering manager will lead a team building Alexa experiences using cloud-based technologies. Core responsibilities include providing engineering support across products and platforms, conducting root cause analysis, implementing code fixes, and developing internal tools.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate experience leading software engineering teams and delivering multiple projects on schedule. This role directly impacts Alexa customer experiences through operational improvements and technical leadership. We invite candidates with experience in cloud technologies, strong attention to detail, and proven success leading cross-functional teams to apply.

Responsibilities include direct management of a team of 8+ support engineers, process and service improvements, monitor and improve day-to-day operational efficiency, planning, some project management for software within the team, enhancing and maintaining a best-of-class engineering team, and management of resources across teams. The role also involves driving smaller scope development projects and building custom tools. There is room for expansion of the scope as the organization continues to build up engineering talent in this location. - 7+ years of engineering experience
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
