Job Description: Manager Contracts (Construction)
Job Summary:
The Manager Contracts for Construction is responsible for overseeing all contractual aspects of construction projects. This role includes managing, negotiating, and administering contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and project requirements, and mitigating risks. The Manager will collaborate closely with project teams, legal departments, subcontractors, and clients to ensure that contractual obligations are met and that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Contract Administration
- Monitor the implementation and performance of contracts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure all parties adhere to contract terms and conditions, including deadlines, milestones, and deliverables.
- Manage contract amendments, variations, and claims, ensuring changes are documented and agreed upon.
2. Risk Management and Compliance:
- Identify potential risks related to contracts and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Ensure all contractual obligations are compliant with local laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Monitor insurance and bonding requirements and ensure compliance with contract stipulations.
3. Dispute Resolution
- Handle contract disputes and claims resolution, working closely with legal advisors and senior management.
- Ensure timely and effective resolution of issues, preventing escalation and minimizing legal risks.

4. Contract Development and Negotiation
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and agreements for construction projects.
- Ensure contracts are aligned with company policies, legal standards, and project specifications.
- Negotiate terms with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to achieve favorable terms and conditions.
5. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and finance teams to ensure contract terms are understood and followed.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and legal advisors.
- Serve as the main point of contact for contractual matters with all stakeholders.
6. Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of all contracts, agreements, and related documentation.
- Prepare regular reports on contract status, potential risks, and performance metrics.
- Provide regular updates to senior management on contract-related issues.
7. Team Management:
- Lead, train, and mentor the contract administration team, ensuring professional growth and development.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to ensure efficient contract management.
Key Responsibilities:
**Qualifications and Skills**:
1. **Education**:
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Business Administration, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Masters degree in a relevant field (preferred).
- Certification in Contract Management (e.g., CCCM, CPCM) is a plus.
2. **Experience**:
- Minimum of 9-15 years of experience in contract management within the construction industry.
- Extensive knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., FIDIC, NEC) and procurement processes.
- Proven experience in contract negotiation, administration, and dispute resolution in large-scale construction projects.
3. **Skills**:
- Strong understanding of legal principles related to contracts, construction law, and project management.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in contract management software and MS Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple contracts simultaneously and work under pressure.
4. **Personal Attributes**:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- High level of integrity and commitment to ethical business practices.
**Working Conditions**:
- Full-time position based out of Corporate office.
- Based at the construction site or company headquarters with occasional travel to project sites as needed.
