Job Description

Role Overview:

The Head of Export Sales is responsible for developing and executing strategies to increase the companys market share and sales revenue in international markets. The role involves managing and expanding the companys network of distributors, agents, and retailers worldwide. This leader will work closely with internal teams (such as product development, marketing, logistics, and finance) to align export activities with overall company goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Implement Export Strategies:
    • Create and execute sales plans for international markets, identifying growth opportunities.
    • Conduct market research to assess demand, competition, pricing, and consumer preferences in target regions.
    • Define short-term and long-term goals for export sales.
  • Sales and Revenue Growth:
    • Achieve export sales targets and expand the companys presence in key international markets.
    • Identify and negotiate with potential distributors, agents, and retailers to establish new sales channels.
    • Foster relationships with existing clients to drive repeat business and upsell new products.
  • Market Expansion and Penetration:
    • Identify new geographical regions for market entry.
    • Lead market entry strategies, including compliance with local regulations, tariffs, and import/export restrictions.
    • Organize and participate in international trade shows, exhibitions, and networking events to promote the companys footwear products.
  • Team Management and Leadership:
    • Lead and manage the export sales team, providing clear direction and performance expectations.
    • Mentor and develop the sales team to improve productivity and drive performance.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth coordination of export activities.
  • Pricing and Contract Negotiation:
    • Develop pricing strategies based on market research, competition, and company profitability goals.
    • Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with international partners.
    • Ensure all deals comply with international trade regulations and company policies.
  • Logistics and Supply Chain Coordination:
    • Work closely with logistics and operations teams to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of products.
    • Monitor international shipping, customs clearance, and export documentation requirements.
    • Address and resolve any logistical issues that may arise in the export process.
  • Market and Competitor Analysis:
    • Regularly analyze export market trends, competitor activities, and consumer behavior.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management on potential adjustments to strategy.
  • Compliance and Legal Matters:
    • Ensure compliance with all international trade laws, regulations, and export control policies.
    • Handle any legal issues or disputes related to international sales contracts, shipping, and customs.
  • Reporting and Analytics:
    • Prepare regular reports on export sales performance, KPIs, and market insights.
    • Analyze data to measure the effectiveness of sales strategies and make adjustments as necessary.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 15-20 years of experience in international sales, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership position, preferably within the footwear industry.
    • Proven track record of driving export sales growth and managing international distributor relationships.
    • Experience working with diverse international markets, including Europe, Asia, the Middle East, or the Africa.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, tariffs, and logistics.
    • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
    • Ability to lead and manage a team, with strong interpersonal and motivational skills.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret market trends and sales data.
    • Proficiency in international trade software and tools.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Marketing, or a related field. MBA or a similar advanced degree is a plus.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Willingness to travel internationally as required (approximately 30-40% travel).
