Electrical Designer / Draftsman

Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer with over 3 & 6 years of expertise in electrical design within the MEP or construction industry. The ideal candidate will play a key role in designing and developing electrical systems for commercial, industrial, and residential projects. They will be responsible for preparing detailed electrical drawings, performing load calculations, and ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards. This role requires proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical design software and a deep understanding of power distribution, lighting, ELV (Extra Low Voltage) systems, and fire alarm designs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and design electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, ELV systems, and grounding layouts.
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD, Revit, or other CAD software.
• Conduct electrical load calculations, voltage drop calculations and short-circuit analysis to optimize system performance.
• Ensure designs comply with local and international codes (e.g., NEC, IEC, IEEE).
• Collaborate with MEP engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure seamless design coordination.
• Identify and resolve design conflicts within MEP systems.
• Participate in BIM (Building Information Modelling) workflows and integrate electrical designs with 3D modelling tools.
• Provide technical support and guidance to junior designers and drafters.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in electrical design.
• Assist in the review and approval of shop drawings and contractor submittals.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Design, or a related field.
• 3+ & 6+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in the MEP, construction, or building services sector.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (preferred), and other electrical design software.
• Strong understanding of electrical symbols, layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience in MEP coordination and electrical load calculations.
• Familiarity with energy-efficient design practices and sustainable electrical systems.
• Solid knowledge of NEC, IEC, IEEE, and other relevant electrical codes and standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with BIM (Revit MEP) workflows and 3D modelling.
• Knowledge of clash detection tools such as Navisworks.
• Proficiency in Dialux or other lighting calculation software.
