Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Java Backend Developer with strong expertise in cloud platforms (Azure), container orchestration (Kubernetes), and event streaming technologies (Kafka). You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, high-performance backend systems that leverage microservices architecture. This role will require collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, cloud-native solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Java and Spring Boot in a microservices architecture.
• Develop RESTful APIs and integrate with external systems for seamless data exchange and functionality.
• Implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka for distributed messaging and data streaming.
• Deploy, scale, and manage applications on Azure cloud platform, leveraging services like Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Functions, Azure SQL, etc.
• Containerize applications using Docker and manage deployments on Kubernetes clusters.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, integration, and deployment using tools like Azure DevOps or Jenkins.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while following best practices in code quality, testing, and security.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems, addressing issues related to performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Work with DevOps and Cloud engineers to ensure seamless delivery and operations of applications in the cloud.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, and frontend developers to ensure smooth integration and development of new features.
• Optimize database performance, design data models, and work with both SQL (e.g., Azure SQL) and NoSQL (e.g., Cosmos DB) databases.
• Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting mechanisms using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, etc.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in cloud computing, container orchestration, and distributed systems.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience as a Java Backend Developer with a focus on microservices architecture.
• Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Experience in cloud computing with Microsoft Azure services and resources.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and management (preferably Azure Kubernetes Service).
• Proficiency in building and managing event-driven systems using Apache Kafka or similar technologies.
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs design and gRPC for communication between services.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, preferably using Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Familiarity with cloud-native application patterns, including 12-factor app principles.
• Experience with both relational databases (e.g., Azure SQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., Cosmos DB).
• Solid understanding of cloud security best practices, identity and access management (IAM), and infrastructure as code (IaC).
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Azure certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
• Experience with distributed tracing and observability in microservices architectures.
• Knowledge of Serverless computing with Azure Functions.
• Familiarity with API Gateway technologies (e.g., Azure API Management, Kong).
• Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing unit/integration tests.
• Hands-on experience with message brokers like RabbitMQ in addition to Kafka.
• Experience with GitOps practices for managing Kubernetes configurations.
