Quality Head

Role & responsibilities

1. Quality Inspection & Assurance

• Oversee in-process, final, and incoming material inspections.
• Ensure products meet quality standards and customer requirements.
• Implement and monitor Quality Control Plans (QCP).

2. Compliance & Standards Management

• Maintain compliance with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other relevant standards.
• Conduct internal audits and ensure adherence to quality procedures.
• Ensure proper documentation for PPAP, APQP, and control plans.

3. Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving

• Identify defects and conduct root cause analysis (5 Why, 8D, CAPA, FMEA).
• Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Reduce rework and rejection rates by improving processes.

4. Continuous Improvement & Lean Practices

• Lead Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
• Optimize processes to reduce waste and enhance efficiency.
• Improve product quality through process innovation and cost reduction.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain detailed inspection reports, quality records, and NCR logs.
• Prepare monthly quality reports and KPIs for management review.
• Use MS Office and ERP systems for data analysis and reporting.

6. Supplier & Customer Coordination

• Work with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet quality standards.
• Handle customer complaints, investigate issues, and implement solutions.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams for quality improvements.

7. Training & Team Management

• Train operators, inspectors, and production staff on quality standards.
• Conduct workshops on defect identification and quality awareness.
• Supervise quality inspectors and ensure proper execution of inspection procedures.

Preferred candidate profile

1. Educational Qualifications:

• Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Production, or Industrial Engineering.
• Additional certification in Quality Management (ISO, Six Sigma, Lean, etc.) is preferred.

2. Work Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in quality assurance/control in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience in the machining and fabrication of heavy construction equipment components.
• Strong knowledge of welding standards (AWS, ASME), machining tolerances, and surface finishes.

3. Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in GD&T, metrology, and inspection tools (CMM, calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and other relevant quality standards.
• Experience in SPC, CAPA, 8D, 5 Why analysis, and FMEA for root cause identification and corrective actions.
• Familiarity with NDT methods (UT, MPI, PT) for weld inspection is a plus.
• Understanding of welding defects, machining tolerances, and fabrication processes.

4. Soft Skills & Abilities:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Leadership and team management experience in a manufacturing setup.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills for interacting with customers, suppliers, and auditors.
• Ability to work under tight production schedules while ensuring quality compliance.

5. Software & Documentation Skills:

• Experience with ERP/MRP systems, MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, control plans, and quality documentation.

6. Industry Knowledge:

• Understanding of heavy construction equipment manufacturing standards and requirements.
• Experience working with OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers in the construction or heavy machinery sector.
