Physician Assistant - CTVS

Role & responsibilities

Preoperative Care:

  - Perform patient assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations.  

  - Assist in preoperative planning, including ordering and reviewing diagnostic tests, labs, and imaging.  

  - Provide patient education regarding surgical procedures, risks, benefits, and post-operative care.

Intraoperative Support:

  - Assist the surgical team in performing thoracic, cardiac, and vascular surgeries.  

  - Monitor and manage patient vitals and anesthesia during surgery.  

  - Provide immediate post-operative care and stabilization.

Postoperative Care:

  - Monitor patients in the intensive care unit (ICU) or post-operative recovery units, assessing for complications such as bleeding or infection.  

  - Manage patient pain and adjust medications as needed.  

  - Follow-up with patients to ensure proper recovery and provide rehabilitation guidance.

Clinical Collaboration:

  - Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a cohesive and effective treatment plan for each patient.  

  - Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case discussions.  

  - Provide ongoing support and care management for complex cardiothoracic and vascular patients.

Documentation & Compliance:

  - Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.  

  - Document patient interactions, procedures, and clinical notes in the electronic health record (EHR).

Patient Education:

  - Educate patients and their families about cardiothoracic and vascular conditions, surgical options, recovery, and lifestyle modifications.  

  - Address patient questions and provide ongoing support during their recovery process.

Preferred candidate profile

- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in cardiothoracic, vascular surgery, or critical care.  

  - Experience in a surgical setting is highly preferred.
