Position : Traction System Engineer
Location : Bangalore
Purpose of the Job: The System Engineer - Propulsion defines the architecture and full functionality of traction drives and auxiliary systems to achieve the required train performance.
Responsibilities:
The System Engineer - Propulsion is leading propulsion design and development. She/he supports to review requirements and technical specifications and perform following activities:
Defines propulsion architecture and functionality.
Defines interfaces with other subsystems like TCMS, etc.
Design and size components such as inductors, capacitors, resistors, contactors etc. Calculates electrical or thermal constraints related to all components of the power scheme.
Prepares system specifications for different product, viz. main transformer, Converters, traction motor, HV Components, etc.,
Performs cost analyzes, evaluates and recommends propulsion systems, products and sub-contractors
Generates engineering reports & documentation,
Prepares main & functional circuit diagrams,
Prepares system and performance calculations & Supports prototyping & prototype testing activities.
Work with customers/vendors to meet project requirements.
Defines complete validation and verification for the traction and auxiliary system.
Get involved in commissioning (=fine tuning) of the traction and aux system on the train
Specialized or cross-functional knowledge / relevant experience required by the position/role:
Knowledge in following areas:
Propulsion system design inclusive relevant standards,
Converter design principles,
Dimensioning of propulsion system components, i.e. main transformer, traction converter, auxiliary converter, traction motors, HV, etc.,
Functional circuit diagrams,
Calculation of train & propulsion system performance inclusive harmonics and EMC,
Dimensioning and selection of semiconductor devices,
Product Safety as per EN 50126, 50128 & 50129,
Design and development Tools, viz. E3, EBase, PDM, TEP, Fahrtemp, MS Office & Good understanding of quality assurance and procurement processes, viz. SEAP, PAP, FAI Education.
