1. Online Test There were 3 colleges writing the online test(pool campus).Cut off was about 70% with no backs .This was probably the hardest of the entire recruitment process. It had about 20 technical and 20 aptitude questions and questions had NEGATIVE MARKING. Technical questions were majorly focused on Circuit theory, network theorems, dependent source problems, time constant calculations, RC circuits and its graphs, and a very few problems on communication theory and signals and systems/DSP. The questions are actually easy provided you have solved those topics before hand . Do understand the behavior of RC circuits by watching a few videos on YouTube. Understand dependent source problems and solve problems based on those topics. If you study the subject Electric Circuit Analysis(ECA), which was part of our syllabus it would be sufficient. Again, don't study everything in ECA, focus on the topics mentioned above. Aptitude questions were quite straight forward with mathematics involved, and some English/vocabulary based questions. Attend the placement training properly, you can grasp most of the concepts and attend many of the online tests with ease. 2. Telephonic Interview The telephonic interview lasted for about 35+ minutes . They started by asking about my projects . The questions were A digital circuit problem, it was a circuit of NAND gates , and they asked the output . If the NAND gates are replaced by NOR gates what is the output? A voltage source V is in series with capacitors C1 and C2 . What is the equation for the steady state voltage across C2 in terms of the known parameters . (See the concept of voltage divider equation for capacitors ) 3 bulbs are in series with a voltage source , if one bulb burns out what happens to the circuit? (ans: the circuit ceases to work) Given 4K ohm resistor , obtain 10K ohms. After answering, they asked realize 15K ohms using 4k ohms: 3 -> 4k ohms (R1,R2,R3) ohms in series(12k ohms), 2->4k ohms (R4,R5) in parallel (2 k ohms) , and 4->4k ohms(R6,R7,R8,R9) in parallel ( 1k ohm). So 12+2+1=15 k ohms. They asked me to find the current through R9 if we connected the above circuit to a 15V D.C Supply. If R9 is shorted then what is the current through it? Assume that 2, 100 micro farad UNCHARGED capacitors C1,C2 are connected in series with a switch . Now a voltage source of 10V is kept in parallel with C1 until it is fully charged . Now the source is removed and switch is closed, explain what will happen in the circuit? After explaining they asked me the equilibrium(steady) state voltage across C2 (ans = 5V). Now if C1=50 micro farad and C2=100 micro farad what is the voltage across C2? (ans is (10*50)/(100+50) , see the voltage divider equations for capacitors.) What are the differences between BJT and MOSFET? Is the relation between collector and base current of a BJT linear or non linear?
