Transformers cannot operate on DC supply due to the absence of changing magnetic field required for induction.

Transformers work on the principle of electromagnetic induction, which requires a changing magnetic field.
DC supply produces a constant magnetic field, which does not induce a voltage in the secondary coil of the transformer.
AC supply, on the other hand, produces a changing magnetic field, allowing for induction and voltage transformation.
Operating a transformer on DC supply can lead to saturation of the core and overheating.

Because Transformer works on AC supply for producing Changing magnetic field ( For single phase ) & Rotating Magnetic field ( in 3 phase system).

SO in DC supply transformer"S winding will heatup and burn
never connect on DC

because, the dc supply produces the uniform flux but not vary hence no emf is induced in transformer then heavy currents flows in primary winding hence winding causes damage hence transformer always operated in ac only
