NPSH is the Net Positive Suction Head required to avoid cavitation in a pump. It can be checked using a formula or a graph.

NPSH is the minimum pressure required at the suction side of the pump to avoid cavitation.
It is calculated using the formula NPSH = (P1 - P2)/ρg - h1 - h2, where P1 is the pressure at the pump suction, P2 is the vapor pressure of the fluid, ρ is the fluid density, g is the acceleration due to gravity, h1 is the height of the fluid above the pump suction, and h2 is the frictional losses in the suction pipe.
NPSH can also be checked using a graph provided by the pump manufacturer, which shows the NPSH required for different flow rates.
If the NPSH available is less than the NPSH required, cavitation can occur, which can damage the pump and reduce its efficiency.
