There are different types of pentesting, including network, web application, wireless, and social engineering.
NMap is a powerful network scanning tool used to discover hosts and services on a network.
To scan an IP address using NMap, the command is 'nmap [IP address]' or 'nmap -p [port] [IP address]' to specify a specific port.
Example: 'nmap 192.168.0.1' or 'nmap -p 80 192.168.0.1' to scan port 80 on the IP address.

Pentesting is the most important part in cyber security. Pentesting helps us to strengthen the security posture of the organisation. After finding Vulnerabilities in the organisation network we will exploit those vulnerabilities in pentesting like we will hack from our side and test how these loopholes helps to gain unauthorised access to the third parties and will provide remediation techniques(solutions) to cover those loopholes and make the organisation network cyber proof.

To do the first step in pentesting called reconnaissance/ network discovery we will use Nmap the most familiar and popular network mapper. Nmap will scan the available hosts (users) running ports, services, os version etc.., These scans helps us to find the critical information about the network which will helps us to get enter into the network.

nmap -sn ip address. this will scans the whole network and display how many hosts are running in that network
