steps to follow when a customer not able to edit th ms word document ,first we need to check the version because some version not allow the file  then  i will asking to them any error shown in screen and that file should be havind access to edit or read only acces  ,then get permission to the user and talk call via teams or other communication app to check the file and resolve it
