A blob can refer to an Image or a Disk , the difference is in sysprep generalized vhds called as an Image an image is readonly .A clone can be created of them , and an instance of such an image is called a  disk.An image is am unbound ware without an instance.A disk is a writeable disk created from an instance of an image specifically for a virtual machine.  e,g VHD Images : Microsoft Partner User, Microsoft Home Users Disks : OS Disk, Data Disk
