Weighted distribution measures the percentage of total sales volume that comes from outlets stocking a particular product.
Both methods are used to determine the market penetration of a product and to identify areas for improvement.
For example, if a company has a product with high numeric distribution but low weighted distribution, it may indicate that the product is not selling well in those outlets.
On the other hand, if a product has high weighted distribution but low numeric distribution, it may indicate that the product is only available in a few outlets but is selling well in those outlets.
