Interview Preparation Tips
Round: Group Discussion
Experience: First every one was given 2 minutes to talk about media's both negative and positive points. Then the total group was divided into 2 teams - one team to support in favor of media - other to oppose it.
I was in the team to oppose the media.
Duration: 20 minutes
Round: Technical Interview
Experience: I was asked about pump designing, pump lining, heat equipment design and distillation coloumn design and some basics of chemical engg
Tips: Interview was about 15-20 min only. The panel members are a bit cool so i could make it up in better way. I answered all the questions that were asked.
Round: HR Interview
Experience: Some basic questions were asked like - tell me about yourself, why you want to join this company, what is your aim and a brief description of my project
General Tips: Concentrate on designs Mass transfer. And pumps are very important
for any interview.
Try to practice them well.

And then we had to debate on the topic as a team.
I spoke against media's role play, that the media creates a havoc and its role in misinterpretation of the truth.
Duration: 10 minutes

Experience: The interview was interactive and lively.

Experience: First we were asked to express our views on the topic individually. we were given 1 minute to speak. Then they divided us into 2 teams. One team was asked to speak for the topic and the other team was asked to speak against. We were given 5 minutes.
The overall experience was really enriching. They just wanted to see if you are speaking relevant to the topic or deviating from that. Fluency was their third criteria for selection.
Tips: It is not necessary that one has to continuously speak.
Just one or two points would also be enough to get selected but make sure you don't stammer. Just speak fluently.
Duration: 17 minutes

Experience: First they asked me to tell about myself. So when i told them about myself, they started asking me about my achievements and questions based on my achievements.
Round: HR Interview
Experience: They were also checking if I would be loyal to the company once I join or would I switch over.
General Tips: Be confident throughout the whole process and give it your best shot.
If you do not know an answer, be frank, don't just blabber.
Think Before u say anything And do a little homework before u go for the interview.
Have your subject concepts whichever you mention in the interview clear and make sure you have a grip on it.

Experience: There were 2 stages in GD. In the first, they asked to give our opinion on the topic. I explained that electromagnetic waves effect the neurons in brain, that overuse of mobile is harmful.
In the second stage, we had a regular GD. i supported the use of mobile phones, that we have many uses like cams,photos,data storage,and portability.
Duration: 20 minutes
General Tips: Be confident in GD.
Basics in machines and power systems is more than sufficient.

Motivation: Petrofac is a good company to start your career in Civil and Metallurgy. Although salary is low, there is a lot of scope as the work revolves around design and there is no field work involved.
