Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Regarding steam power plant, pre heater, economiser, type of cycle in steam power plant efficiency of boiler,how to
increase efficiency of power plant heat transfer, modes of heat transfer,governing equation for conduction.
Tips: Basic knowledge in thermodynamics,heat transfer,steam power plants is enough for clearing the interview.
Round: HR Interview
Experience: Occupation of father details of siblings. Interview was very cool it was about 15 to 20 minutes duration.
General Tips: Before applying for NTPC, do proper homework regarding NTPC, places of work,work environment, pay, etc., because as it is a PSU you have to wait for it and once you got PSU you are not eligible for any other company.

Experience: Basics regarding mechanical subjects,actually I did a project in summer vacation at BHEL Hyd,they try to find the
industrial exposure that I have undergone there,after that they asked me the areas of interests and questions on them.
Round: HR Interview
Experience: I had bit luck at HR interview that they just asked me that NTPC plants are located at various remote places, can you work there?? I said I don't have any problems,that is the only non technical question which I faced in my interview,as my HR and Technical interviews are at a same time I don't have enough HR questions. But the panel of selection committee was very friendly,They gave me enough time to relax and asked the questions,
General Tips: Be thorough with the basics,be cool on the time of interview.ALL THE BEST!!!

Experience: What's your father's profession and What's your brother doing? What are the other companies you attended for? I was asked in which subject I had scored well and interviewers asked questions in that.

3. Then from T-S diagram it was asked which is the process taking place in the turbine?
4. What is the function of super heater?
5. What do you understand by term critical pressure?
6. What is its estimated statistical value?
7. What are the various losses in a power plant?
8. What is the expected efficiency of a steam power plant?
9. How does a car accommodate difference in wheel rotation speed while taking a turn?
10. How about a railway locomotive?
Round: HR Interview
Experience: The HR questions included: 1. What is the difference between efficiency and productivity?
2. Why did u opt for NTPC?
3. Is there any close relative of yours working in NTPC?
4. Did you have a chance to talk to him?
5. How will you able to get along with the life in NTPC townships because most of the times it is very far from cities? 6. Did you get in to some kind of a summer training in to a power plant?
It was an awesome experience as I was mostly able to convince them with my answers and they were very satisfied. I was pretty relaxed and was sure of my selection. Though I was a bit nervous at the time of results I should accept. At the starting I faltered but later I recovered and answered perfectly well. On my selection I jumped out and freaked out like anything.
General Tips: At least get to do a project in a power plant or oil refinery that's what these PSU's look for. Moreover get through with the basics of thermodynamics, pumps, turbines and be confident and ready to talk in the interview. Rest all is luck, all the best.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Short list for the interviews will based on cgpa. In the technical interview,the panel asked me about my project work.
I have done a project in NTPC-Ramagundam during summer vacation,so they questioned me about the plant I have visited. It's better if you have done a project in any industry,they will ask the questions regarding that only.
Round: HR Interview
Experience: HR interview lasted just for 2 minutes, they asked about my father's occupation and some personal details. The interview panel is very friendly,and they asked me basic questions only. On a whole the interview is very comfortable.
General Tips: Be confident during the time of interview. Be good at the basics, they will ask basics only. Maintain a minimum of 8 CGPA to get short listed for the interview.

Experience: What does your father do? What would you like to do? I was little bit nervous but one of the panel members relieves my tension talking very lightly on HR and then they started asking question on technical knowledge which I confidently answered. The overall experience was very pleasant .

I was a bit tensed but the panel members were very friendly and they made me feel very comfortable. They were concerned if i could stay in field areas but when I convinced them that I am very interested to join and told them about my family background. They were convinced.

General Tips: I feel juniors should give their answers confidently.
