Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: There were 8 people in our group. Everybody talked in support with the deal. But I talked against the deal and I raised some loopholein the deal.At the end of the discussion everybody was given a minute to conclude in his own style. This would not be an elimination round.
Duration: 20 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: The interview was for 15 to 20 minutes. They asked some questions on my project and some basic questions on my interesting subject power system.

Round: Interview
Experience: There was no specific HR interview. Some HR questions were asked in the technical interview itself. They were very common questions.Everybody can answer them.

General Tips: For the WT be prepae +2 level phsycics and chemistry briefly and just brush your memory in the Electrical Technology once before the selection. For the GD the topics would be mostly the current topics. So go through any National Newspaper daily and be confident. Look at the groupmates while you are talking and while the others talking, dont look at the panel members. And as it is not an elimination round be cool. For interview go through your project if you have one and just some basic knopwledge in the electical engineering would be enough. Be confident in the interview. All the best.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The process was pretty straight forward, especially because it was a core company so all of us were speaking in favour of a core job. I do not think they paid much attention to the results of the GD, the final selection was pretty much on the basis of CGPA. What i would suggest, however, is that do not dominate your GD, try to be agree with people more often than not, concede points that others point out, stay calm and confident.
Duration: 10 minutes

Round: Interview
Experience: Not much. I was just asked basic questions about microprocessors and memory management (computer architecture and organization), which were very straight forward.

Round: Interview
Experience: I was asked why I wanted to join Alstom, and what my future plans were, etc.

General Tips: Stay calm and confident, and you will get the job

4 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: In the first section(General Engineering), 45 questions are given covering questions from all engineering branches. In the second section( Electrical Engineering), 45 questions are given on Electrical subjects covering all the courses studied in every semester.
Duration: 45 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: It was just to tell the career you would prefer after B.Tech and support yourself. I had chosen core job and even everyone of us did the same and of course compared the same with the IT job. I had told that due to the increasing population in India, there would be enormous increase in the requirement of power and so more power plants would be setup creating more opportunities for core job. The increasing population in China getting aware of English would definitely affect the present situation of IT companies considering India as a potential resource for cheap labour and this would definitely affect the IT jobs in future. India would be the second largest economy in the world by 2050 as per the survey conducted by Goldman Sachs, so we can expect huge opportunities for core professionals. Moreover, having studied Electrical Engineering for four years will only be able to do the electrical work, not any other engineer and we can even deal a IT job if we wish. Note: They didnot eliminate anyone from the group discussion and they have told it prior to gd.
Duration: 15 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Personal Interview was both HR and Tech. I was just asked to say about myself. Then a few questions on the basics like importance of delta ( synchronising angle), superposition theorem and its explanation with an example, explanation for the equivalent circuits of two inductors when connected in parallel and two capacitors when connected in parallel and why is the difference, thats all. I told that I am interested in Power Systems. He asked me that I was even good at networks, so given a job related to networks would I do it. I told yes. Then, I was asked which place would I prefer. I told that it would be better if it is Bangalore but I can get on with any climate as my father being a bank employee gets transferred all over.

General Tips: No need of tension. No need to worry of gd. In the interview, mostly, they will be asking questions from the subject you are interested in or from the project you did. But some of my friends were asked arbitrarily. Never mind, be confident and dont forget to maintain your cg. I think it has got a significant weightage. They will definitely take you if they are impressed and you show your talent. While announcing the results, they told that they had found enormous talent in us are likely to take more people next time. This year they have selected 11 of us from all branches, more than what they have come here to take, but being impressed by the performances in the interviews, they had selected 11. All the very best.
