Your seniors at National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela were your true well-wishers, they shared their placement interview questions for you. 🙏
Round: Test Experience: I had a hard time taking out time to prepare because of the TnP work so I concentrated solely on campus preparations throughout the summers apart from PC work and left out my project work. I worked out a little from the GATE practice book, programming questions from “Exploring C”, and rest from “Coding Interview Questions” book by Karumanchi. These 3 books were all that I read or prepared to some extent and found them sufficient for covering up all the points in detail Tips: A combination of strong basics in your subjects, good projects and club activities can help you bag possibly any good job. My only suggestion would be to not restrict yourself to grade studies. Also, spend time productively in the campus, be it coding, sports, clubs, etc..
Round: Technical Interview Experience: For technical rounds, I practiced my subjects from the books mentioned above, though I dint practice aptitude questions much due to lack of time and interest. I also brushed up on my internship projects for the interview rounds since we tend to not remember them in details. For the HR round, I just tried to be as genuine as possible. Tips: For a CSE student, there is no dearth of opportunities and companies coming up, but the major challenge is the amount of pressure that builds up subsequently. Initially I missed out on a few major companies like MS, Dell and Novell. Also, being a PC, I was missing out on a lot of preparation time.
Round: HR Interview Experience: My placement season was short which is a bit relieving as now I can concentrate on my project work and placement coordinator work. Every written test and interview were a great experience. There were a lot of frustrating times when a program dint work out or I missed some round by a small margin, but then I tried keeping faith in my abilities and tried to move on. My parents and friends helped me out a lot to get back up every time things weren't working out. At the end of the day, if you have worked hard to achieve something, you will definitely get it at the most opportune moment.
General Tips: I got a dream offer from Unisys and a super dream offer from Teradata, on 8th Aug. I am satisfied with both the companies that I am placed in. I would personally prefer Teradata because of better research environment there, the job entry level and pay package.
