Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: You are given the topic or asked to choose any topic of your own. They gave us 5 minutes to discuss among ourselves about the topic and 10 minutes for the actual GD.
My GD experience went well. My team somehow was bent on connecting 'going slow' to 'digital india' and 'tech in rural india', Our final topic chosen was "Impact of going slow in digitalisation of india" keeping a product in mind.
We tried to touch upon if going slow is beneficial or otherwise in the various processes of product development (ideation, creation, implementation). we discussed reasearch for new products to be a slow process while expansion of any new idea to be fast paced and in tune with competitors.
Tips: -All abstract topics mostly, so try to think beyond 'digital india' and 'tech in rural india'. Keep an open mind.
-Dont take the 5 minute discussion time lightly. They observe your leadership skills there. This is the chance where you bend the discussion to the direction you want to. And you are not even competing with each other...so bring in as many ideas as possible.
-Try to speak atleast once in the start,
-Let others also speak. Infact its a plus point if you let a person who hasnt spoken a chance 'in fair manner'.
-Avoid repeating the same idea too many times
-Conclude.
Duration: 10 minutes

Round: HR Interview
Tips: Choose the answer to 'what drives you' wisely. Any technical question will follow in the same field.
Keep the answer to "Tell about yourself" structured.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: As my favourite subject i said digital system and coding. My internship dealt with solar energy, li-ion batteries, pcb designing.
Questions that followed were:
System-on chip?
As a design engineer, what are the parameters you think are required for a new age chipset?
material used to increase capacity of li-ion batteries?
programming language used for mobile development?
Latest java platform you know?

Tips: they want to know how indepth you know or reasearched you are in a subject of your choice.

1 Interview Round

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The topic was a bit surprising as it is a totally unrelated one. But Vodafone , through its discover program , offers managerial role, so the arbitrary choice is justified. Frankly , I didn't know the meaning of Jugaad back then, but was able to pick it up as the discussion proceeded. I started slow , waited for my moments , and was never aggressive. I didn't speak much , but I spoke the right stuff at the right time and that is what mattered.
Tips: 1) Be confident and make sure you are audible. Talk as if you own the room and the game is in your pocket2) Stick with your point. Give plausible reasons for your stand and don't blabber random stuff3) If you feel the discussion is getting out of scope, try to bring stability to the group. Also try to resolve any arguments , as it might affect the entire group.4) "NEVER" speak when another person is talking. Respect other's viewpoints. But make sure that you get to speak.5)

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was a normal test to evaluate the students on how they would react to various situations in a corporate environment.
Tips: Keep your thoughts straight and answer the questions honestly. It should be a piece of cake.
Duration: 90 minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: A total of 7 words were given and we were told to make out whatever we could out of them. Every other candidate connected the words with Vodafone since the last word that was given was 4G (LTE Technology), but i chose to connect them with IPL. I was the first one to be selected along with two other guys, who also made their points well.
Tips: They look for ideas that are novel and out-of-the-box. They are looking for individuals who can stand out from the group and also make valid points. You shouldn't join the bandwagon and talk about the same thing everyone else is talking nor should you go completely off-track making it sound gibberish. Have a strong idea or a point and go for the attack. Also do not try to intimidate others or get intimidated. Respect everyone's opinion and make sure your opinion counts.
Duration: 25 minutes

Round: Behavioural Interview
Experience: The whole interview centered around whatever I have done in my four years of college. I was told to explain about my projects, my coordinator roles and various other activities that I have done. They also want to make sure that you are up for challenges if you're put out of your comfort zones (that's how the job is gonna be).
Tips: Be confident. That is the biggest tip that can be given. Explain yourself well, make sure you let them know that you're interested in working for them and try to show them that you are capable for technical as well as leadership roles. Make sure to show yourself as a well-rounded individual with a passion for learning.

General Tips: Stay confident and motivated through the whole process, so that you would send a positive vibe in the GD and Interviews. That goes a long way, more than your other skills.
Skills: Able To Speak With Perception, Confidence, Leadership Skills
College Name: IIT MADRAS
Motivation: Techno-managerial profile. Vodafone brand value. Interesting work culture.
Funny Moments: I didn't start talking in the GD until 5 people have made their points and my close friend, who was also sitting next to me during the GD nudged me to start talking or else everyone would ignore me. When i did start talking and started connecting the words with IPL, everyone were puzzled and that moment I thought I screwed up. But when I had completed talking I knew that I had nailed it. :)
