Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: 1st Round was the online aptitude test with 3 sections Quant Verbal Logic
Tips: Make sure u r good at aptitude tests as most of us feel its easy and in the end not even qualify

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: After short listing 60-70 could make it to the 2nd round which was G.D in a group of 8 it was a case study on developing a system as a deloitte employee my advise for G.D is dont take a  start if you are not comfortable but at the same time make sure u speak 3-4 times in between and that too with strong points, such that others listen to you and start adding on to your points. Then ur definately in.After the GD 3-4 people from each batch got shortlisted we were 33 students for PI Mostly all students had 1 round, both tech and HR included, few were called twice. I had only 1 round

Round: HR Interview
Tips: Answers to these Qs are easy and depend on your interests. make your resumes strong and knw what you have done, dont try to fool them. For eg in Q7 above i placed html on my resume but didnt knew the answer so i frankly told them nd still i ws selected. Not necessary you should answer everything. finally ask them Questions (Q11). In the end if its your day u will definately get the job, otherwise theres always sumthing better for you so dont get depressed, instead get motivated For the next company

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: - TELL ME ABOUT YOURSELF.. Didn't expect this questions in tech interview. Got very nervous and started saying  anything.Interview noticed that and asked me calm down. Offered me water and said "now lets start the interview" with a smile. Started with projects. Interviewer goes through each and every project in your resume.

Question related to the project were like :
- Tell about the project.
- How did u implement a particular feature and many more questions were asked on projects.
- In all my projects I had worked with backend technologies , so he asked me do I know frontend tech or only backend. Then asked me few questions on javascript. Only basics and where is it used in my projects. Most of the time discussions was on projects.- Then questions on dbms : sql query , transactions . Asked me to draw ER diag. I don't remember the question but was an easy 1.
- Questions of OOP concepts. Inheritance , Polymorphism (Explain with examples)
- Sorting techniques. Explain any 1.
- Best sort

- Swap 2 numbers without temp variable.
- Any questions ??
Tips: KNOW YOUR PROJECTS WELL

Speaking with examples its easier to explain

He opened my online project and carried on discussion related to it.He asked me did I know anything related to finance. I didn't know so i asked him will it be a part of our training process. He was kind enough to explain me entire training process.

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was a pen & paper test. There were 4 sections, 20 questions and 20 minutes for each section. You cannot switch between the sections as they take the question paper after a particular section is timed out.

1. Verbal- Comprehension and basic grammatical sentence structuring. I solved the latter part first. It wasn't very difficult

.2. Logic- Find the next number in series, next figure stuff. This was the simplest section.

3. Quants- Not that easy, but manageable.

4. Programming- Very difficult. Questions were majorly of the type:

a) Get the output (Almost all the codes had complexity n^2.)

b) Which of the following options is the correct algorithm for  c) Output of flowchart (Honestly, I don’t even remember seeing the flowcharts.)

d) One or two theory questions.

I solved around 7-8, made logical guesses for the rest. There was no negative marking, so I made sure I attempted all the questions. Also, I marked the answers with pencil, so that if I get time at the end of any section, I can change an answer after cross checking. After the aptitude test, we were given a chance to interact with the managers of the company. It was not a very formal session. Make sure you make the most of this opportunity, as no other company gives you such a chance. Get all your doubts about the company cleared in these 20-30 minutes. I gained some interesting insights about the company in this session. This was not an elimination round.
Tips: All of us struggled with this section. My suggestion would be to scan the paper for the theory questions first, then type a) questions and then type b). I doubt you’ll get time for type c). Another key point is to not get stuck on a particular question for a long time. If you are finding it difficult, there’s a possibility that others are also struggling with that question. So it would be wise to utilize that time to solve a few simple questions rather than one tough question. After all, weightage for each question is the same. ;)
Duration: 80 minutes

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Any questions for me? (I asked him about one of their products. )They look for many things apart from your technical skills.

General Tips: Always dress properly. Even if you are told that 'semi-formals' are allowed, wear formals.Read about the company and be thorough with the job they're offering. Sit for the company only if it interests you. I sat only for those companies whose job profiles aligned with my job preference.Eat your breakfast/lunch. Fruits preferably. Interview day can be stressful sometimes and you need energy to look lively in your interview.Don’t forget your manners. Ask for permission to enter the room, greet them and thank them after your interview. If you are rejected for a company, don't lose hope. Instead, accept the decision and analyze where you went wrong. Work on it and make sure you never repeat that mistake again.Come talk to me if you aren't able to cope up with rejections.Even I faced rejections, but every rejection taught me something that eventually helped me on 22nd September, in one way or the other. :)

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: This had 4 sections of 20 mcqs each. We were allotted 20 mins for each section after which theinvigilator would take away the respective section’s question paper. The 1st section was Verbal Ability. The questions were based on passages, complete the sentences with appropriate option and other general English qns such as find out error in the sentence. No question on synonym antonym except maybe 1 passage based question of that sort .English section was doable. Logic was the next section, it had questions based on blood relations, coding and decoding letters, direction sense , a passage on cubes and other logical questions which were easy overall Quants was next section which was a bit lengthy and had questions on pipes, speed distance and other prominent quants topics.Next was the programming section which had language independent questions of predict for the output of code, identify correct code, output of flowcharts and algorithms, multiple loops. Adifficult section overall.About 80 students appeared and around 37 were shortlisted
Duration: 80 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: There was no GD round unlike previous years and we had the technical round directly. I was asked to give a briefing about the projects I had done so for this ,one should know the purpose of the project ,the technology used ,the role you played ,the challenges you faced etc. Seeing my resume he asked me what I had learnt in a networking workshop I had mentioned it along with 3-4 other technical workshops. I barely remembered anything about itand said to him that I had attended it in my second year and I didn’t remember much.I alsouttered a few concepts on networking I could recollect. So make sure you don’t appear dumb about anything throughout the interview and keep the conversation going or don’t write things which you don’t remember just for enhancing your resume as it could back-fire on you.Asked me what is relational database Which editor is used in linux, what is shell scripting, commands in linux? Why JPMC?

Round: HR Interview
Experience: They don’t grill you much on technical. They just want to make sure that you will fit into their environment and work culture. Have the basic knowledge of every subject so that you can show that you have some idea and can drift the conversation in that direction if you are stuck

6 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was not that difficult and so the cut offs were high. I started the  quant preparation from RS Agarwal (found it too repetitive so stopped  midway) and started with Arun Sharma(first 2 levels of few important  topics like logical reasoning and statistics).Always target to be in the top  so that you have your interviews early because last year the hiring team were in a hurry and so they rushed with the interviews of later part students. Few people call these LUCK FACTORs.
Tips: Remember the imp. topics would be Probability, Statistics ,Work-Time.

Round: Case Study Interview
Experience: Questioned me about my college activities , few common puzzles and then came the most interesting part. They gave me a case study based on sports since I had mentioned my interests. It had to do with probability, Bayes Theorem and logic...sum real bad logic...I liked this  even though I had no basic idea of how to start with this .It was as if He was teaching me there itself on these .We discussed a lot-almost 20  minutes on this .At times he used to stress out few questions and I had to ensure that I stayed firm with my answers. They try to confuse you. You just keep smiling and be firm with your answers. Stay damn confident with yours. Then he moved onto another case study wherein I had to list all types of data to be collected , decisions to be made if I were to start an ice-cream shop in a famous shopping mall. It was a discussion wherein I needed to justify my decisions on how to make maximum profits in any situation. Took almost 45 minutes to come out

Round: Puzzle Interview
Experience: This one was with a very cool person who continuously kept on offering me Oreo biscuits  This round had to do with puzzles which you will find in How to Ace the BrainTeaser (I don’t recollect which were the puzzles). I could answer 3 of the 5 asked. Then he moved to C programming. Asked me to write code to print few patterns , optimize them further and that was it. Took hardly 20 minutes for this round.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: He started with questions like Why Data analytics ? Where could this field be used ?(almost everywhere-just for facts : almost every top IT firm especially the banking firms are having a data analytics team) We had discussions on different topics that he raised. One of them which I remember is: Suppose one of the hospitals in your city has been having an increasing number of patients, then please quote the possible factors leading to the ill-health of the citizens. How to ease the different issues in medical field using data analysis? It was just a discussion and I was quite sure that he liked my points.I also asked him about how to utilize this field of data analysis to improve the current business markets of India and how differently did countries like USA used data for business than in INDIA. Overall this was an interactive session. He kept me busy and I also did keep him busy answering my questions. This might have lasted for 40 minutes and then it was all over

5 Interview Rounds

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: 3 sections - Quant, Verbal and Logical Reasoning. No sectional time limit and sections could be attempted in any order. However, they might have section-wise cut-offs (not sure) and so each section must be given importance. It is a speed based test. Level of difficulty is easy to moderate
Tips: you need to be quick. Do not waste too much time on any question. All questions contain equal marks. You can come back to the remaining questions later.Try maximizing your score in the apti. A lot of preference is given to the high scorers of the apti.

Round: Other Interview
Experience: It started with a brief introduction-Tell us about yourself. Till the time you answer, one panellist goes through your resume.Be thorough with everything you write in your resume. Do not write fake stuff, they question you on anything that you have written. They asked me about everything- projects, seminar topic, languages mentioned, extra-curricular activities A lot of SQL questions were asked. They ask concepts, queries, syntax. The had questioned me a lot on JOINS.
Tips: Support everything you say with an example. (eg. if u say you have leadership qualities, give an example of when you have been a leader). If you don’t know an answer, tell it to them honestly. Don’t try to fool them.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Standard puzzles that you normally prepare for interviews were asked. Do not give away the answer immediately as if u know it by heart. Think aloud and explain them every step. It does not matter even if the final answer is wrong, the approach is important. In my case, I wasn’t prepared with the puzzle I was asked so I explained it to them from myperspective. Even though the final answer was wrong, the approach was correct so they qualified me for the next round. Also, they smartly try to confuse you. So remain confident in what you say. Do not argue if you are very confident, explain it to them politely. In the tech part of the interview, basic java/c/c++ questions wereasked. (what is object oriented programming? What is inheritance?

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Be prepared with all sorts of HR questions- strengths, weaknesses, happiest moment, proudest moment etc). Why EXL? One Fermi question was asked in this round. Again here, the approach is important, not the final answer. Beprepared with a question to ask at the end of the interview- it could be abt the company/ data analytics or anything. That shows your interest in the job

Skill Tips: Don’t panic or be nervous. Stay calm. Once the interview starts, they make you feelvery comfortable.
